Unedited Chapter 1
She woke up with a start. Not knowing where she was or how she got there. She tried to get up, but something pulled her back down. Looking at herself she realized that she was restricted with black straps of an elastic cloth.
Aurora didn't understand what was happening. As she looked aroud herself one more time she realized that she was not on a bed, well not a not a normal bed.
It was a glass coffin.
Aurora wanted to escape. She observed again and saw that there was IV on her left hand with the tubes going out of the coffin through a small hole in the glass wall. How did she not feel that before? She thought to herself. At that moment she instantly got an idea. Through the restraints she tried to bring her right hand towards her left as much as she could. Then she ripped out the IV with her hand and started scraping the elastic with the tip of the needle.
It was a risky attempt. The elastic looked thin but it was still tough. Unsuccessful, she threw the needle out of frustration. She thought about pushing at the restraints as much as she could to get out. But even after doing so, she was unsuccessful.
Now what to do? She knew she had to get out. Something was odd. Aurora then thought that the restraints could only be opened from the outside. The lid of the coffin had to be opened first. But with restraints around her she couldn't move any body part other than her hands and face.
Then she thought about the IV and that the tubes were still connected to the stand outside the coffin. She immediately took the IV and pulled at the tubes as hard as possible. The left side of the coffin shattered into pieces.
As expected the straps were locked from outside. Aurora immediately opened the locks, with some difficulty, but she was able to free herself and got up.
The sudden movement in her body caused her head to spin. She felt exhausted but didn't know why. As she walked around the room she noticed that it resembled a hospital room. The walls were a light blue and the ceiling grey. There were L.E.D. lights at the edges of the roof that gave the room a depressing glow.
What was strange about the place was that it lacked windows. The air was cool but it still made Aurora sweat. Something about it gave her chills. The door was on the far right corner. Aurora went to open the door but it slid to the left on its own. Surprisingly it was unlocked.
The hallway was the same. Light blue walls and grey ceiling with L.E.D. lights. Walking down the long hallway, and another one, she came across what looked like a reception desk. A lady sat behind it with a tight bun wearing a doctor's coat. Oddly other than the both of them there were no other people present.
Aurora decided to enquire. Placing her hands on the desk and leaning, she asked, " Where am I?".
The woman looked at her with bored, drooping eyes. " You shouldn't be awake". Aurora frowned. "What do you mean? I want to know where l am. Who are you and why are there no people around here?", she demanded worriedly.
The woman looked at her with the same expression. "You are not to leave your bed until your parents come to see you, Miss Wests. How did you get out of it anyway?"
Aurora caught on to the name the woman addressed her with. She couldn't remember her last name before. And how could she refer to the coffin as a 'bed'? She was held by restraints just a few minutes ago. Was she in a mental asylum? The lack of security told her otherwise.
A 'ding' sound followed just as the woman behind the marble desk got up. Following the sound, Aurora saw as a man and a woman who looked middle aged walked towards them. The door behind them closed the same way as it did back in the room. The woman held no expression, whereas the man had an angry look as soon as he saw Aurora.
"Mr Wests, if I had known you both were coming, I would've got her ready",the woman who was also the receptionist, said to the man.
Aurora was now shocked. This man was her father? How could she not recognize. And was the woman her mother? Something was definitely wrong. Her heart started to race. Why did her 'father' not look happy to see her. And oddly, now as she realized, Aurora wasn't able to remember anything.
"She isn't supposed to be out of bed. You know that. The experiments are not yet done. Get her back" , he almost yelled at the last sentence.
But just at the word 'experiment', all hell broke loose.
