Chapter 13
~Red~

Have you ever stood in front of someone awkwardly as your hands started sweating whilst avoiding those intense gazes? That's what I'm experiencing right now. With loud heartbeat, flustered and flushed face, I dare not meet his gaze, Ted's eyes. He was always a passionate guy, someone precious who conveys feelings boldly. But that's only for those who he cares for. He was always impassive, cold and poker faced towards others.

Think of cucumbers Red, cucumbers. No more lovey dovey stuffs, it's bad for your heart.

"Look, I'm not the same old Ted who was bullied by other guys now. That's what I can say for now. I can't reveal anything to you. There are eyes everywhe-"

"What..... Eyes?" I interrupted his speech as he ruffled his hair and muttered a 'shit'. He sighed deeply and continued,

"I always lower my guard when I'm with you. This is bad, Red. What are you doing to me?" His soft eyes looked at me with such deep emotions that could not be expressed by words. What are you doing to me? My subconscious wondered.

"I just want you to know that...." He stopped and sighed in frustration for he could not find the right words to say.

"A mask." He slowly said. "Everyone has their own mask for the public to see. I'm not any different, I'm forced to wear this mask. This iron mask that just couldn't seem..... To crumble. If only I could speak casually to you now like this everywhere," He rambled as he paused, "It would be heaven."

He was so drowned in his raw emotions, yet those words he spoke, it was as if layers of mystery to be solved, layers of gates to be unlocked. This matter was pure complicated. My head hurt. Was that why he was quiet at school? Was that why he acted so differently around each person?

I patted his head to calm him. Wow, his hair is softer than mine. Woahhhh....... He jumped due to my touch as his eyes widen in alarm. I wasn't conscious about this until I saw Ted's tomato-like face. Ohmigod what am I doing now? I quickly thought of a way to cover up my embarrassing action.

"Are you feeling any better now? Hehe I heard that patting someone's head is a gesture of comfort." I grinned at him as he looked at me with a straight face. I nervously search for any sign of emotions on his face as my heart started beating. Alas, his face broke into a smile. A smile that melted my heart and made my heartbeat,

BADUMP BADUMP BADUMP!

"Pat me more." He said as he held my hand, guiding me to touch his silky hair. I burst into fits as I thought in my head, was he a dog? Who asks someone to pat their head?

As he let go of my hand, his warmth lingered around my hand and my curiosity piqued, "Where did you buy your shampoo at?" This made his chest rumbled out a deep laugh.

I smiled as I thought, somewhere deep down my heart, I don't feel like washing my hand today.
