Veronica was getting ready for her date at Pops with Betty. To most people it didn't seem like much, but it was the place where they first met so it held a special place in their hearts. Veronica chose a blue dress- with pearls of course.

Betty was weirdly nervous. The fact Veronica had said she wanted to talk about something made her think. Normally with the brunette it was something to do with her dad, who had never entirely warmed to Betty. However the blonde just put that down to him being generally unhappy with anyone dating his precious daughter.

Veronica arrived at Pops first and waited in a booth for Betty to arrive. When the blonde got there she smiled as soon as she saw Veronica and walked over to the booth, giving the brunette a kiss before sitting down and saying: "so, what did you want to talk about?"

When Veronica said: "it's about us" all sorts of things were going around Betty's head, but Veronica continued: "obviously when we go to college we're going to be away from each other for a long time and I'm really worried you'll end up breaking up with me and find someone else".

Betty was shocked when she realised how insecure Veronica was. She held her girlfriend's hand and replied: "that's never going to happen. I'd hitchhike to see you if that's what it took, when you turned up here you turned my world upside down in the best possible way".

She continued: "we've never exactly had it easy but nothing can ever change how I feel about you. I love you Veronica Lodge". Veronica replied: "I love you too Betty Cooper" and gave her a soft, lingering kiss.

Kevin had said that Veronica had probably been worrying about nothing and, far from unusually, he had been proven right. However, it was a major relief to actually hear the words from Betty confirming that their relationship was solid.

As they were having their milkshake and fries, Veronica said: "Kevin said I had nothing to worry about. I suppose it was just because what we have means so much to me and I don't want anything to change that. I suppose we can FaceTime every day".

Betty replied: "we better had do. I can't pretend it's going to be easy. The thought of not seeing you every day kills me but we always knew this would happen eventually. Any time we can see each other I'm sure we will".

It was definitely a conversation that the girls needed to have. They had both admitted to their own insecurities about the future distance that will be between them but if anything it had brought them even closer together.

They agreed that they would both come back to Riverdale for Christmas so they could see their families as well as each other, while anything else would be decided once they had a better idea of what their schedules would be.

For now though they could concentrate on savouring every moment of the time they had left together. It was only a matter of weeks now until graduation, when Betty would make a speech and Veronica would lead the Vixens in their final performance
