It was the last day of school. After today, I'm no longer a freshman. There's nothing special about it except that people would stop teasing me because I'm a 9th grader.
Ms Heleria let us do what we wanted for the period. I sat at my desk in the back of the class. I drew in my sketchbook with my headphones on, while the rest of the kids talked in the front of the class.
It looked like they were playing truth or dare, but I barely looked up at them.
I felt the presence of someone in front of me. I looked up to see Hoseok with a bright smile. He always smiles.
I took off my headphones and put them around my neck.
"Pari," he said, "School is over."
I looked over his shoulder and saw that all the students were gone. I put my sketchbook and my pencil in my bag and swung it over my shoulder.
We exited school and walked home.
Hoseok and I always walked home together because we lived in the same neighborhood. Our families were friends for years.
We stopped in front of my house.
"We're still going to the movies on Saturday right?" Hoseok asked.
"Of course."
He hugged me and walked to his house.
Little did I know, that was the last time I would see him for a long time.
