Hanji x Levi (Staying Strong Till The End)

The end

*Hanji's pov*

I carried on working from my bed side for a few weeks. Everyone had changed the way they did things around here just to fit my needs. The new recruits seemed nice enough they were always polite and respectful to me. Maybe that was because they were scared of Levi but still I liked the respect. I didn't get much of it.
Levi often stayed with me late into the night until I had fallen asleep and then he would go back to his room. He  was looking after me well and we had become really close, alot closer than we once were.

Things seemed to be looking up for me except for one thing, my wound wasn't healing. I could tell that it had an infection as it was hurting all the time and I still couldn't get up without it hurting. It had become quite serious up till the point that I had lost all desire to eat.

For the past few days I had been starving myself, I just couldn't bring myself to eat anything. My ribs were now portuding through my skin. It was uncomfortable to try and sleep on and my limbs had become limp with the lack of engry.

One morning Levi came to see me on his own just to see how I was doing. I could tell that my personality had changed so he must have been able to tell too. He sat down on my bed and using my arms I pushed myself onto his lap where I just lay there. "You've not been yourself Hanji" he finally said looking down at me.
I said nothing because I wasn't sure how I could tell him what was happening to me.
"What's wrong?" he asked me as he brushed my hair from my eyes. He then put hand on to my ribs but then quickly moved his hand away when he felt them. He then lifted up my top to see all of my ribs showing through my skin "What's happened to you Hanji?" He asked "You were begining to recover"
"It's okay, I knew from the start that that was just wish full thinking, I have an infection" I told him.
"You haven't been eating" he sounded angry.
"I can't bring myself to eat Levi I'm hurting too much" I told him as tears began to form in my eyes. It was true every living minute was painful and I wished it would just go away.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked.
"I didn't want be the reason we fell behind on work and besides I was hoping I would recover on my own" I said as the tears fell down my cheeks.
"We could have helped you" he told me.
"You couldn't have" I smiled up at him with tear streaks trailing down my face. His hand grabbed mine and he then looked at the stitches, today was the first day that they had began to leak nasty substances.
"Shitty-glasses I am going to get you back with us if it's the last thing I do" he said as he grabbed me and picked me up. It hurt to be moved but I rested my head on his collar bone as my whole body felt limp and weak. I was too weak to even try and fight back.

He carried my out of my room and downstairs where Erwin met us on the corridor. "What are you doing with Squad Leader Hanji?" He asked.
"We have to get her to the doctor quickly, she has an infection" he told Erwin.
"When did she get that?" He asked.
"She must have had it for a while she has begun to starve herself, she's in so much pain" Levi told him.
Erwin looked shocked but nodded and came back to the sables with us. Sasha, Krista, Bertholt and Connie were on horse cleaning duty with Petra and Oluo. When we came into the yard Petra left her post and came over to see us. "Whats happened to Hanji?" She asked.
"She got an infection in her wound and we need to get her to a doctor as soon as possible" Levi told her.
"Right Levi get your horse and ride down to the next town now to prepare the doctor for Hanji's arrival, Petra go and get your horse ready as I will need you to take Hanji there" Erwin told us. Petra nodded and went off quickly to go and get her horse ready. I could sense that Levi was reluctant to leave me so I said quietly to him "Just go I will be there soon and I'm sure Petra will get me there in one piece"
"Stay strong" he replied as he kissed my head and then left me with Erwin whilst Petra got her horse. Levi grabbed his horse reins and jumped onto its back before hurring it to run in the direction of the nearest town. I had my head resting on Erwin's shoulder, "so you and Levi are a thing then" he said out of the blue.
"Yeah I guess were are really" I smiled at him.
Petra then came round to us on the back of her horse. Erwin picked me up and put me on the back of the horse just behind Petra, "Good luck" he said.
Petra then got my hands and placed them around her waist so I would hang on and not fall off. I had my head on her back and when she felt that I was secure we headed off.

So here I was again on the back of Petra's horse riding hopefully to recovery. Her horses thigh still had the stains of my blood trailed down it. I guess that white fur kept in blood stains just as well as white clothing did. I slowly moved my head onto Petra's should and said "If I don't make it please promise me you will look aftet Levi"
"Don't say that Squad Leader you will be fine" she shouted back.
"But if I'm not please look after Levi, he may seem strong on the outside but really on the inside he is vulnerable like us" I told her.
She was silent for a few moments as she thought before she replied "I promise you Hanji, I will look out for him"
I smiled to myself and softly replied "thank you"
My eyes had begun to become heavy and I could feel myself drifting into a sleep. Petra was warm and she comfited me as my side oozed nasty liquids. I just wanted to be held and slowly my eyes closed.
