Hanji x Levi (Staying Strong Till The End)

Back home again

*Levi's pov*

We stayed at the doctors house for about a week until we were finally allowed to go home. Petra had come back everyday to check on us and I would always send her back to update Erwin on what was happening. Hanji had improved amazingly well and she was awake for most of the day, and could eat bits and pieces of food.

A few times a day, every single day without fail the doctor would come and change her dressing on the wound. He seemed pleased with the amount of progress she had made with in the week, not only with the healing but also the weight she had put back on. She wasn't eating much but what she did eat was full of all the vital minerals her body needed.

Finally when Petra came back one day I was told we were allowed to take her back home. I was so pleased that she was doing well and was fit enough to come home with us. He told me before I left how to care for the wound until it had finally healed up completely, he also told me what sort of food to feed her. The same two men came back to carry her to Petra's horse and to make sure she was able to hold on. She wasn't yet strong or able enough to walk or genuinely support her own weight.
We used Petra to transport injered individual soldiers as she rode the most gentally and her horse didn't buck or try to get rid of the rider when it was scared. She was also small enough for an extra person to fit on the same horse and not be dangerous. I was also small enough but I didn't ride as carefully as Petra did.

I was infront of them the whole way back and every now and again I would look over my shoulder to check on them. Everything seemed fine and Petra hadn't called to me to tell me something was wrong. Things were finally looking up for us in this terrible world.

*Hanji's pov*

When I woke up from a nap I had been taking I was outside with the wind hitting my face. We must be going home I told myself. I was happy and I felt so much better and I wasn't in as much pain as I was at one time.
It was bright outside and I was gald that I could finally hear the horse hooves hitting the ground. I hadn't heard that for so long.
My first thing I was going to do when I got back was to express the importance of titan anatomy to all of the new cadets. They needed to be as educated as I am with titans, that would be the thing to move us all forward.

I moved my head as I wasn't in a comfortable position and Petra called back "You awake Squad Leader?"
"Yeah" I replied as I placed my face on her back.
"How are you feeling?" She asked.
"So much better" I told her.
"I'm pleased to hear it" she replied happily. It was a warm day with a light breeze which kept us all cool enough.

It didn't take us too long before we were back to what we called home. Erwin, Mike and Molblit were all there ready to greet us on our arrival back. I had missed them all and I was glad that I was seeing them again feeling so much better. For a breif moment I had thought that I may never get to see them again.

Erwin and Mike both helped me down from Petra's horse and they helped me walk to my room. Unlike the doctor they made me walk as they were going to need me to assist in educating the recruits and leading groups when we went outside the walls. My legs were like jelly as they shook when I moved them, but with their support I got to my room.
I knew I couldn't pitty myself for too long as I was needed to get back to work as soon as I was physically able to.

A few days passed and I was now able to stand and walk alone without support from anyone. Levi has looked after me everyday by changing the dressing on my wound and getting me food that would help me heal.
Today was the first time that I would be seeing the new recruits after being sorted out. I was slightly nervous but I knew as soon as I was able to talk about titans I would be absolutely fine.
Levi walked with me to the classroon to make sure I didn't collapse, I knew I would be fine but I think he was just being considerate. We hugged each other before he left to finish up some work. I took a deep breath in before throwong open the door and saying cheerfully "Gooooood Moooooorning new recruits!"
All together the nine cadets stood up and put their right fits over their hearts as they looked back at me. This was a sign of respect and also the trust that came with being a scout.

In that lesson I taught them in much greater detail about the titans other weak spots. These wouldn't kill them but would just make them un able to move whilst they killed them. I taught them about cutting the heals, elbows, gouging the eyes and even the jaws if someone got eaten whole.

They left my room not really saying much but I was pleased with how the lesson went. I jumped and sat down on the desk and played with flexibility of the example blades that I had. Levi would be busy after lunch, he had been assigned a few cadets to give extra tutoring. This was just to improve their mobility and ability out in the field so they stood a fighting chance in combat.

I just so happened to be free so I considered going to find Molblit. He must have missed me since I had been gone.

After lunch I went skipping down the corridor looking for my old pal. I knew if Levi could see me he would scold me for skipping but I was in such a good mood and felt amazing. Instead of finding Molblit I came across Erwin.
"Squad Leader, you are looking much better" he smiled at me.
"I feel much better thanks Erwin, do you know where Molblit is?" I asked him.
He was quiet for a whike before he replied, "He is down in the basement, I think he is looking at some titan samples"
"I trained him well" I smiled to myself.
"He's been doing alot of thay since you haven't been here, one thing is for sure he is much more careful than you ever were" Erwin replied.
"I'm going to find him" I told him as I turned to leave.
"Hanji!" Erwin called after me.
I stopped and looked at him do he continued "just take it easy don't want you bursting anything"
"Don't worry I'm fine" I told him as I left quickly so he couldn't lecture me.

Downstairs Molblit was looking into titan bone structure.
"MOLBLIT YOU MISS ME?" I called to him as I came in to the room.
"Squad Leader" he almost seemed shocked.

For the rest of the afternoon I helped him look into various samples of different titans. It had never felt so good to be back working especially with one of my best friends.
