I stare at myself once more, before heading down the stairs, to my car. My first day back in Riverdale, since the end of eighth grade. Was I scared? Very.
I climbed in my car and begin to drive to Riverdale High, I had to get there early to pick up my schedule at the office. As I drove, my eyes wandered around the town I knew and loved.
I loved New York City with a passion, but Riverdale always and forever would have a place in my heart. It was the place I grew up, it was where I made friends, had first kisses, first dances and a million other firsts.
My cheeks warmed when I thought of my first kiss. With Archie. The kiss was anything, but romantic, we were twelve it was a sloppy peck. Unfortunately for me, that was my first and last kiss with Archie.
After about five minutes of driving, I arrive at Riverdale. I step out the car take a deep breath and walk towards the school, like the fearless goddess that I was.
When I walk through the door all eyes were on me, as I expected. Annie, the model who skipped town to pursue her dreams as a model, in New York City. Hell, if I wasn't me I would stare too.
Ignoring the stares, I pick up my schedule and walk to my locker. "Annie?" I hear a familiar voice call. I turn with a smile. "Why if it isn't Betty Cooper," I chirp. She smiles pulling me into a hug.
"Wow you've grown so much, wow look at you," Betty smiles brightly looking at me up and down. "You've changed too, you look great though," I smile.
"Did I miss the reunion?" Kevin says, walking up to my locker, beside him was a raven haired girl with cherry red lips. "Of course not," I say pulling Kevin in for a hug.
"Oh this is Veronica," Betty says with a smile gesturing to the raven haired girl. "Veronica Lodge," she says with a smile. I smile back, "Annie,"
"Let's see this," Kevin says snatching my schedule. "We have first and third period together," Betty says nudging my shoulder with a smile, I smile back at her.
I honestly missed this. My friends back at NYC were all catty and self centered. But my Riverdale friends, they were true friends.
The warning bell rang. "Well we should get going," Betty says to me I smile closing my locker taking my schedule from Kevin. "See you guys later and it was nice meeting you, Veronica," I say turning my head back as Betty pulls me down the hall.
When we arrive to class, I follow Betty to a seat in the middle of the class.
So far the day was going great, but there was still one person that I hadn't seen yet, a person that I was dying to see.
Seconds later Archie walks in the door and takes a seat towards the front. My cheeks blush. How has it been two years and he still makes me feel like this?
"Hey Archie," Betty calls. He turns around with a smile and then his smile grows bigger when he notices me.
"Hi," he says staring at me with his chocolaty eyes. My brown eyes stare back at his, "I've missed you, Archikins," I say trying to restrain from turning as red as a tomato.
"Not nearly as much as I've missed you," he says with a smirk. Betty looks from me to Archie with an amused look.
Just as the late bell rings, the teacher comes waltzing in. Archie turns back around and Betty smirks at me. "You still have the hots for Archie," Betty whispers from beside me.
"I do not," I say, trying to hide the smile that danced along my lips as I took out my binder and consumed myself in class.
A very long ninety minutes later the bell rang. I practically jumped out of my seat. Betty waved me goodbye when we stepped into the hallway. I was alone. I didn't mind all that much, really.
"Hey Annie," I hear Archie call from behind me. I turn to him as he walks up to me. "Hey," I smile up at his tall figure.
"Wow the famous, model Annie is actually talking to me," he teases smirking down at me. "Oh please, you act like the people don't fan girl over you, in this town," I say nudging his shoulder.
He lets out a laugh and my cheeks warm. "So Annie," he says as we stop outside my class, I lean on the opposite side of the door waiting for him to spit it out already. "Listen, I like you, I've liked you since I was in sixth grade for Christ sakes, and when you moved away...I thought I lost my chances with you," he starts.
I stand there flabbergasted, as I run a hand through my black and brown ombré hair. Was this really happening?
"But when I found out you were moving back to Riverdale, I knew it was my second chance." He states looking down at me with warm eyes.
"Archie I like you too," I say taking his hand. He smiles a boyish grin. "Wait...really?" He asks still smiling.
"No...I like the other Archie, yes you," I say sarcastically. He rolls his eyes playfully, our hands still intertwined. "Let me take you on a date Friday, after the game." He suggest.
"I'd love that," I smile. "Great see you then," he says walking away through the crowed hallways.
