Chapter 8:

Elena's POV:

1:30 P.M

As soon as class is dismissed, I quickly make my way out of the building and start walking to the house. After a couple minutes, I hear honking from behind me. I turn around to see Ethan driving his car at the same pace I'm walking at with his window down.

"What are you doing? Get in," Ethan says. What? "What?" I ask. "I told you I would take you home after class," Ethan says. "Yeah well you also said some other things," I say referring to what he said at the club as I continue to walk. "You said some things too." "But I apologized for it!" I state stopping in my tracks and turning to face him. He lets out a deep breath and rolls his eyes.

"Alright, I'm sorry," he says. I turn around and continue to walk. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry for the things I said to you," he says. I stop walking but don't turn to face him. "And I'm sorry for being such a dick to you ever since you moved in," he adds. I turn around and smile. I get into the car and he begins to drive home.

"So why'd you want me to get in the car with you so badly?" I ask after a couple minutes. "I keep my word," Ethan says. "Yeah, okay tell me," I say. "Well, we live together. No one wants to live with someone they hate, so I just don't want us to hate each other," he says. "Well, it also seems like you've kinda changed," I say. "What do you mean?" He asks. "Well, you finally started hanging out with us a few weeks back and you were less of an asshole. Also, you seemed pretty happy Saturday morning as you danced with Ava. Oh, and I mean you did go on a date which doesn't seem like you." "Eh, I just decided to finally start having some fun," he says. "So you and Palmer... that's just for fun?" I ask. "Yeah, nothing serious. All girls are the same, I don't want to get into anything serious." "What do you mean all girls are the same?" I ask in a defensive voice as he pulls into the driveway. "What are you offended?" He asks with an amused smile on his face. "Well obviously," I say and we get out of the car.

Once I get into the house I head straight for the kitchen and Ethan goes to sit on the couch. I open up the fridge to look for a snack but there's nothing. I then check the pantry and there's still nothing.

"Hey Ethan, I'm gonna go to the grocery store to buy some things. Wanna come?" I ask as I walk out of the kitchen and into the living room. "Yeah, sure," he says looking up from his phone. "We'll take my car," he adds and stands up. "Wait how would've you gotten there since you don't have a car?" He asks as we head out the door. "Ava's car," I say. "Mm well I think it would be a good idea for you to get one soon," Ethan says. "Trust me, I want to, but my mom's still pissed over what happened to my last car so she won't buy me a new one. But I'm working on it," I say and we get into Ethan's car. "Oh, so you had a car at one point," Ethan says. "What happened to it?" He asks and pulls out of the driveway. "Well... it kinda got destroyed. But it wasn't even my fault!" I say. "How did it get destroyed?" "I was driving and all of a sudden this asshole makes a complete stop and I crashed into him and then the car behind me crashed into me pretty badly," I say. "Did you end up getting hurt?" He asks. "No, but the car took a lot of damage and it cost a lot to fix. I didn't think it was worth fixing because it was a pretty shitty car, so I sold it for its parts and I've been saving to buy a car I actually want." "What car is it?" "Actually it's this car but in white," I say. "Good choice."

After a few minutes of driving, Ethan decided to bring up Jake.

"So has Jake called you yet?" Ethan asked. "No..." I say quietly. "Well it's only been two days, don't worry." "How are you and Palmer?" "Good actually, I'm going out with her tomorrow," he says before we go silent.
