Chapter 20:

Elena's POV:

As I change into my pajamas, I hear my phone go off. I walk over to it and see I have a message from Ava asking where I am. I pull my shirt over my head before responding to her text. I then hit the back button on iMessage to see if I had any unread messages and I see that I had sent Ethan a text last night. Huh?

I open up the conversation and see I had spammed him. Oh fuck.

I scroll up to the beginning of our conversation and read it.

Oh shit. No, no, no, no, NO.

I shut my phone off and head to Ethan's room. I get outside of his room and see the door is wide open with him rummaging through his drawers.

"Uh, Ethan," I call and he quickly turns around as if he didn't want me to see him looking through his drawers. "Oh hey," he says. "Can I come in?" I ask. "Uh... yeah," he says after glancing back over at his drawer. I walk in and he goes over to his bed.

"Uh... I just want to say sorry for those weird, creepy messages I sent you last night. I was wasted and I didn't know what I was doing," I explain. "Yeah, no worries," he says. "Okay, well... goodnight," I say before heading out of his room.

I head downstairs and sit down on the couch next to Maya who was sitting alone.

"Hey," I say. "Hey, what's up?" "Did you and Grayson starting dating before or after you guys moved in?" I ask. "Before," she responds. "Why?" She asks. "Just wondering." "You're into Ethan," she says abruptly. "What?" I ask taken back to what she said. "You like Ethan. Grayson and I knew for quite some time now. You tried to get over him by going out with Jake but it didn't work and that's why you broke up with him." "How did you know?" I ask. "It's so obvious that you guys are into each other." "You think he likes me back?" I ask. "Are you stupid? He's so sweet to you and cares for you so much. It's so obvious," she says. "No, no, Ethan and I are just close. He helped me get through a lot and he literally saved my life. We just have like a connection," I shrug. "No, Elena, he's into you, how do you not see it? He's always flirting with you." "I don't know, usually when guys flirt with me and kinda get me thinking they like me, they don't so I stopped looking into it when a guy flirts with me," I explain. "Well, Ethan likes you a lot. Do you not see the way he looks at you? You probably didn't notice because you were too busy looking at him the same way," she says and I let out a chuckle. "I don't know what to do," I groan. "Tell him you like him. I don't know if he will give you guys a chance, but he does like you and I know he's gonna confess his love for you," she says and I laugh. "But why wouldn't he give us a chance?" "Because of what happened with his last girlfriend. I'm not sure if he's ready to get back into dating although they broke up months ago." "Well, if we did date, wouldn't it be messy if we broke up? We live together, if we were to break up, we would ruin our friendship and would not want to be around each other," I say. "There's nothing else you can really do. Didn't you already try to get over Ethan?" She asks. "Yeah." "And it didn't work. I say go for it or you're going to end up alone if these feelings for Ethan don't go away. If the connection and friendship you guys really had was so great, you'll find a way to work it out if you break up or if he doesn't want a relationship," she says. "I guess..." I say. "You gonna go tell him?" She asks. "I don't know... should I?" I ask. "I think you should." "Alright..." I say and look down at the ground.

"Oh hey, are you gonna invite your family to celebrate Thanksgiving here or are you going to go to them?" Maya asks "What's everyone else doing?" I ask. "Grayson's family is coming, mine is coming and everyone else but Evan is going to see their families so invite yours!" She says. "Alright, I'll see if my family wants to come," I say. "Okay, now go spill out your heart to Ethan!" She cheers and I let out a chuckle before standing up. I head up the stairs and let out a deep breath. Here goes nothing.
