Chapter 13:

Elena's POV:

"Uh Jake, I'm sorry but I just don't want to rush into things," I say before pushing him off of me gently. "Oh, no I'm sorry," Jake says. "No, it's okay," I say reassuring him I'm not upset with him. We continued to talk and just caught up with each other for about an hour before he left. I noticed Ethan still hadn't come down so I decided to text him.

To: Ethan Dolan

"where are you?"

He responds within less than 30 seconds.

From: Ethan Dolan

"In my room"

Me: why?

Ethan: I assumed you wanted some alone time with your boyfriend

Me: well he left come back

After I sent the message, he didn't respond until almost ten minutes later.

Ethan: Okay.

Ethan then walked down the stairs seconds later and sat down where he previously was.

"What took you so long?" I ask. He just shrugs and focuses his attention on the T.V. "Want a chocolate?" I ask and hold up the box of chocolates Jake brought me. "Did Jake bring you these," Ethan says almost laughing looking at the box. "Yeah, why?" I ask. "Nothing," he says and takes a piece of chocolate. I take one as well and set it down on the table.

A few minutes later, my phone rings. I pick it up and see it's my mom before answering the phone.

"Hello?" I say through the phone.

"Hi, Elena, how are you feeling?"

"I'm okay, I guess."

"Are you still in pain?" She asks.

"Yes."

"Are you taking your antibiotics every day?"

"Yes," I respond.

"I took the weekend off and I was thinking maybe I come stay with you this weekend to make sure you're okay and to take care of you. "

"Oh, no that's okay mom, I already have six roommates that have been taking care of me," I say.

"Yes, but I'm your mother, I want to take care of you. I want to make sure you're okay."

"Mom, I am okay."

"No, I want to be with you taking care of you. I'm your mother you can't blame me," she says.

"I don't know mom," I say not sure if everyone else would be okay with it.

"Just let her come," Ethan says still looking at the T.V. "I don't know, what about everyone else," I say pulling the phone down and covering the mic. "They won't mind, trust me." "Okay," I say before pulling the phone back up to my ear and removing my hand.
