She was squirming around like a trapped puppy but we gripped around her wrists and ankles even tighter. As we held her up longer, she started to get heavier, but I still held on.
“This is making me dizzy guys. Put me down.” She said, messing up a few words. Rome just shook his head and said, “Yeah right, you have to try harder than that, girl, if you want to get out.” She shook some more until her eyes closed and she went limp.
Wesley looked at Rome who looked at me who started laughing nervously. “Dude, she seriously just fainted again! I hope this isn’t a regular habit of hers.” I new Rome was not even six feet away from me, but it still felt pretty necessary to yell at him.
Wesley dropped his leg and backed away with his hands in the air as if a cop was on him. Rome’s eyebrows curled in confusion and his mouth slightly opened. I bit my lip but still couldn’t stop snickering. Rome stepped towards me threateningly but forgot he was holding Kolbey’s arms, so she swayed as Rome kicked her head.
I burst out laughing uncontrollably. “Well put her down Rome!” Danny said and sat on the edge of his chair about to get up and set her down himself. Rome did what Danny commanded and set her on the floor; her head rolled to the side, and I gently placed her legs on the ground. I jumped over them and sat on the coffee table, but Danny kicked me so I got up and sat next to the couch.
Rome walked around her and nudged her with his foot. He shook her leg but it was still limp as something that is usually limp… He had his back turned to her now and rubbed his forehead.
“Just our luck… What is wrong with her?” I looked down at Kolbey and noticed something weird about her face; there was a little grin on her face and then she slowly opened one eye to look around! She spotted me looking at her and her eyes grew wide. I put my finger up to my lip, but then pretended I was just scratching it.
I waited for Kolbey to move before I start jumping up and down and flipping out. Rome turned back and she pinched her eyes shut. He leaned down and placed his hand over her cheek and rubbed it, “Kolbey, you in there? Come on, snap out-”
Kolbey snatched his wrist and kicked her leg over and around Rome until he was on his back. She leapt on top of him and sat on his chest with his arms pinned down. I was laughing so hard my eyes were tearing up for the first time in years.
I could hear Rome barely choke out, “Alright… for you.” He flipped her over and pinned her down. She lifted her head and struggled, but gave up. “I’m done.” She said in defeat. Rome patted her cheek and said, “You’re doing good kid.” He reached for her arm and pulled her up.
