Hey everyone! So i have been seriously editing this story to get it ready to send out for publishing, so that is why I have sort of dissapeared. The new edited version will not be posted, but i will try to upload this every so often. So anywho, the suspense is building!!! Now for what you have been waiting for, for the past three months...

I fingered my shoulder and traced the outline of my scar. Danny looked at me, horrified, and Dodger, his eyes wide like a hungry wolf, grinned at me, shaking his head. He approached me; Dodger glided as he walked; he moved as silently and gracefully as a ghost, and the suspense grew within me, as he got closer.

He reached out, his cold hands grabbing my shoulder and he pulled my jacket down to reveal the scarred up letter on my shoulder blade. “Now isn’t this just a coincidence, Danny? I mean it’s absolutely perfect!” He spun on his heel like a mad man and Danny shook his head.

“You are even crazier than when I left the gang!” He exclaimed and Dodger let out a maniacal laugh that proved Danny’s point even more.

“What’s crazy is how the world just loves to work in my favor. Try to see the good in this, Danny boy, with her here, that saves so much trouble that you would have had to go through with me. Now, you can just finish the job and leave; problem solved.” He clapped his hands, the brass knuckles clinking.

Dodger unlocked my cuffs and pushed me towards Danny, who caught me and held onto my arms. I didn’t know whether I was more scared of Dodger or the fact that Danny would not say a word. “Danny, what is he talking about? How does he know about the scar?”

Danny was stuck in a trance as Dodger spoke, his voice now calm and hypnotizing. “I know, it’s a bit of a shock, but just think Danny: all that pain you have gone through; all that guilt; all of her pain of losing her parents. All that can be over, if you just finish what you started.”

“I can’t...she trusts, but now...” Danny was lost in Dodger’s words and I said sternly, “Danny, don’t listen to him! You can’t trust him. He is lying through his teeth!” But Danny just shook his head, “No... he’s right. It was me... all this time and I had no idea why you were so familiar, but I didn’t put it all together. Your parents were killed, the scar, it all comes back to me.”

“Danny, I don’t know what you are saying.” I pleaded to him, but he would not listen.

“He never told you what he did years ago?” I shook my head and Danny’s voice behind me said, “Stop talking Dodger.”

But Dodger continued, “You never told her about-oh Danny, Danny, Danny, you really dug this grave yourself...well Danny here is the reason you parents are dead! And now you have to live with the pain and suffering he was too selfish to end for you.”

“What is he talking about Danny?”

“I did it, Kolbey. Four years ago, it was me and these guys who killed your parents.” I backed away from him. “I’m sorry, Kolbey.” He smiled as he said this.

“Awe, now look what you have done, Danny.” Dodger sounded pleased, “You’re upsetting the poor kid. Well, it won’t be for long.” He pulled on a metal handled blade and pressed it into Danny’s palm. “I’ll give you time to think about it. Either you finish the job or I will do it for you.” He shrugged, “Your choice. Come on, Ryan. We’ll be back in an hour, and if she is not taken care of...”

They left and shut the door. Danny slid down the wall and sat on the ground, turning the blade in his hand.

“Danny?” I slowly walked to him and knelt down on the floor. He pushed me away and said, “No, Kolbey. Get away from me...I’m a monster.”

I shook my head and said, “No you are not; Dodger is lying.”

“He’s telling the truth, Kolbey! Why can’t you understand that not all people are good?” He sobbed into his hands and I slid next to him, our shoulders now touching eachother’s. I put my head on his shoulder and said, “You are a good person, Danny.”

“But I’m not. He lies a lot, but that was not a lie. I-I was only fourteen. He told me that his gang takes out those who deserve to be taken out and that it was for the good of others, but he eventually went crazy and started attacking innocent people. I was the only one to run away after...after the couple and their daughter was attacked. The gang took out the couple and he left me to get rid of the kid, but I just couldn’t. I left her there with a ‘D’ carved in her shoulder blade that way if she ever showed up, I would know it was her...but...she is you.”

I gasped a pulled away from Danny again. I thought it was the effect Dodger had on him that made Danny say anything, but Dodger wasn’t here now. Danny wasn’t being forced to speak lies.
