I had been walking for what felt like hours. Although not that I could tell because it seemed as if the sun hadn't moved an inch. This whole day had turned out to be very very shitty. I decided to just pick a direction and just walk until I reached the shore line. From there I would walk the shore until I found the beach that my father had landed on.So far I hadn't seen any water for miles. Not even a little pond or a stream. I had begun to think that maybe I should have just stayed with Pan. She wasn't actually going to hurt me and plus she had food. Kinda ironic that now I was hungry.
Then all of a sudden I hear laughing. I pause and stand still mid step trying to listen. So there was other people living on this stupid island that's apparently in the sky. Surrounded by water . . I'm not even gonna think about all the inconsistencies in this place. I stand perfectly still trying to see if maybe it was just my ears playing tricks on me. Then I hear it again. Yes defiantly laugher. I turn towards it and slowly follow the sounds towards the edge of the forest. I could see the trees begin to thin and the clear blue sky become more visible.
Praise the lord , I'd found my way to shore. I break through the last part of trees and I see a small moon shaped area of sand sounded by rocks. Some of them even breaking the surface of the water. Not only where there rocks. There was. . . girls. Three of them all lounging on the rocks laughing and carrying on. I pause for a moment trying to put this all together in my head until another thing comes to my attention. They had . . . fins. Instead of legs.
Did someone drop me into a disney movie?
"What in the name. . ." I begin to say.
The second they heard me talk they all turned towards me and smiled.
Okay, maybe a horror movie?
"Oh girls, we have a visitor!" One exclaims. She was sitting on the rock in the middle of the crescent moon. She had very long blonde hair and had a sparkling blue fin.
"Praise the Nevernever! We haven't had a visitor in so long!" Another exclaims.
"Oh Pearl. Can we keep him? Can we keep him please?" Pleads another as the two of them look at the mermaid in the middle.
First flying girls and fairies, now mermaids. I really am going out of my mind.
I take a step back out of shock and awe. So I was meeting the Neverland mermaids. I wasn't sure how to deal with this situation. I suppose I could ask them for directions. They aught to know where all the beaches are right?
"Sorry to bother you, but have you seen say a pirate ship pass by here?" I question.
The the blonde mermaid named Pearl slides off her rock and swims towards the beach stopping right in front of me. I look down at her and I finally realize how beautiful she is. Her blue fin sparkling even more than it was before.
"Sure, but why would a good boy like you want to find pirates?" She asks, drawing a question mark in the sand.
"I just need to find them? Can you help me?" I ask again.
At this point the other girls had gotten into the water as well and were swimming just off shore now, like they were waiting for something.
"Sure we can, we can take you there if you like. It will be faster if we swim." Says one with bright silver hair.
Pearl reaches out her hand beckoning for me to take it. I begin to slowly walk towards the waters edge when I stop. What was I doing? I didn't know these mermaids. How did I know they were telling the truth. Plus these mermaids tried to drown Wendy, in my aunts stories that is. But still I shouldn't be doing this . . .
"I'm not sure thats a good idea.I should really just keep walking. . ." I begin.
"Come on James. A little swim won't do any harm." Pearl tells me.
"A little swim wont do any harm." I hear my self say.
What was I talking about. A swim could do a lot of harm. A lot of harm! My feet begin to walk towards the shore and Pearls waiting hand. Oh dear god, what was happening to me. How did she know my name? I walk closer and closer to the shore until I reach Pearl and put my hand in hers.
"A little swim wont do any harm." I say again.
"Come swim with us James." say one of the other mermaids.
"Come swim with us." They all repeat in unison.
I begin to walk deeper and deeper into the water, Pearl still holding my hand. Once I got a few feet in the other mermaids begins to crowd around me touching my arms and hair. I could feel them weighting me down as I walked further and further into the water. Finally my feet couldn't touch bottom anymore and I begin to swim. I then hear someone shouting. Someone calling out for me. I suddenly realize whats happening.
"Wait, girls I think this was a bad idea." I say. I try to pull my arms free from their grip but they are too strong. I begin to fight them a little but they don't relent. What have I gotten myself into now.
"I'm not a very strong swimmer. I think I should go in now!" I say more frantically this time.
I try to break free and swim for shore but pearl grabs onto my right arm and pulls me close to her.
"Sorry, James. You're ours now." She says as she kisses me hard on the mouth. My eyes widen in shock and confusion as I feel someone grab my legs and begin to pull me under water. I kick and thrash but its no use as they pull me under the waves. The last thing I hear is that same voice shouting.
As they pull me farther and farther I try to scream and shout but it just fills my lungs up with water. I vision starts to become blurry and my head feels like its about to explode. Curse my father and this stupid island. And Pan too, for making it so bloody easy to escape.
These girls were Sirens. I really fucked up this time.
