Chapter 8: Freedom

It was now the next morning after your birthday.  Currently you could only think of Sans and his surprise kiss. But once you saw Gaster you knew you had to focus and help him. 

"Hey, so when can I start helping?" you ask Gaster,  sounding eager.

"Hmm... "

He thought for a moment; his expression seemed like he was worried.

"I suppose we can start now.  Let's go the lab,  and then I can run some tests. "

"Alright... "

So, you both teleported to the lab.  There is was a bit dark,  and you saw something that looked like a giant skull of some sort.

"That is the DT extraction machine.  Basically you will go inside of it and I can get some of your determination. I believe with enough of it,  I can break barrier."

"Will it hurt?"

" I am not sure... "

"Well,  might as well try.  I just want everyone to be happy. "

" You're so kind,  (y/n)... Give me a moment... "

He checked the machine and turned it on.  It seemed to be working.  You prepared yourself. He then gave you a signal and you climbed into the machine.

"This feels kinda weird... "

"It's not painful,  is it? "

"No."

"Good... It is slowly getting your determination. "

"That's cool..."

Your mind started to wander.  You starting thinking about Sans.  In a way I guess you could say you really loved him.

Beep beep beep

"(Y/n)? What are you thinking about?  The machine seems to extracting.....love?"

"O-oh... Nothing... " You blush.

Gaster had a thought. What if love is more powerful than determination.  Or what if you combine them!?

"...You know,  I know what Sans did to you last night. "

"What!?"

"He kissed you,  didn't he? "

"No... " You blushed more,  thinking back to the passionate kiss.

"It is written all over your face."

"Wouldn't you be upset?"

"No... I did see it coming.  I actually think it's cute. "

For some reason that made you feel so happy.  You smiled and blushed such a rosy red color. After that the machine beeped and everything was done.  You got out,  but you felt a little dizzy. 

Gaster was analyzing what he got from you.  Then he injected it into himself...

"(Y/n), we must hurry to the barrier. "

You both got there and suddenly Gaster transformed. His signature cracks were gone and his eye was healed. He then held his hand up and....

Crack

The barrier was shattered

It worked. Your determination and love for Sans worked! But then once it broke,  Gaster fell. 

"Gaster!  Are you okay?! "

"Yes.... Just tired.  That took a lot of...power."

You called Asgore. He got Gaster to Alphys who healed him a bit.  Then all the underground was contacted.  It was time to go to the surface. 

You rushed home,  where you found Sans on the couch.  You immediately tackled him and showered him with love.

"whoa,  what happened?"

"The barrier is broken. We are free now! "

He smiled so brightly.  He pulled you into a hug then proceeded to kiss your head. 

"i  knew you could do it... i love you... "

"I love you too."
