Two girls walked alongside each other on the pavement. One with brown hair, one with red. One smiling, one looking down.

"Ruby, you alright? Oh nevermind, you never tell me the truth anyways..." Scarlet looked up towards the sky.

The sun was setting, and it was a beautiful shade of orange. There were barely any clouds in the sky, so there was a perfect view of the sun. Leaves were lightly swaying in the wind, while birds were flying high.

Scarlet took hold of Ruby's hand, and pulled her into a hug.
"S-Scarlet? What are you...?" Ruby stuttered, confused by Scarlet's actions.

"Hugging you, dummy. I can see you're not alright, though you always say you are. I can see right through you. You're not the only one with a troubled past, and I understand how you feel. I know you've always suffered alone, but now, we can suffer together. And maybe even one day, we can end that suffering."

Tears were welling up in Ruby's eyes. She was speechless. No one had ever cared this much about Ruby before, and she was overjoyed.
"Thank you..." She whispered.

"Hey, Ruby? Can you promise me one thing?" Scarlet asked.
"Uhm... Sure, I guess..."
"Can you promise me, that whatever happens, however bad life gets, and whatever horrible things come your way, that you will smile? I mean, it might seem stupid, but it really helps. Trust me, I do it all the time..."

Ruby looked into the eyes of Scarlet. She silently nodded her head, and smiled.

"Woah, I think that's the first time I've ever seen you smile!" Scarlet exclaimed excitedly. Ruby laughed, "Well, that's a good thing, right?"
"Of course!"

The two girls spent a long moment looking into each others eyes. Tears were rolling down both of their faces, though they weren't tears of sadness.

They were tears of joy. Joy of the fact that they had finally found someone. Found someone, who they could stay with forever.

"I love you, Ruby."
"I-I love y-you too, S-scarlet..."

The two girls walked away, with their hands entwined. And they weren't planning on letting go.
