Will continued to be a complete idiot for the rest of the period, asking annoying questions and acting serious about it, which was weird, since I've never taken him to be serious about anything that was school related. Or anything else in general, and for some reason it just really bugged me that this was the one assignment he was actually willing to do without any complaints whatsoever.

The bell rang for sixth period. That's my English class with Mr. Krufka.

And Will.

It's no big surprise that he kept passing me notes the entire time. Mr. Krufka was talking about the book we were reading, titled Ageless Love.

It's about this old man who meets this young girl. The girl falls in love with a boy from her school. She asks the old man for help getting the boy to date her, and while doing so, she rekindles the old man's love for his ex-wife. That's all we've gotten through so far. I was actually curious as to whether the ex-wife loved the old man back but Mr. Krufka stopped us a couple chapters before we found out.

Maybe I could just buy the book and read ahead...

I was actually trying to listen to Mr. Krufka, but every other minute I'd hear a crinkling coming from my left and a couple seconds later there's a piece of paper sitting in front of me, waiting for me to unfold it and see the secrets it held.

"Katie, what did you think when..." my ears stopped listening for just long enough to catch the sound of paper being folded. I was trying to pay attention to the teacher, but I was also listening for the next note.

What's your favorite food?

He was still focused on the chemistry project.

I balled up the paper, then looked around in case anybody had heard it. I stuffed it into one of my many folders. I had one specially set aside for stupid notes from annoying idiots.

"...sweet, how she went to him for advice instead of her best friend," Katie answered.

I heard scratching, crinkling, folding, then another sheet of paper landed on my desk. I balled it up without even looking at it and stuffed it in the folder. More scratching, crinkling, folding, landing, balling. Just repeat that seven or eight more times and then you'll get the idea of how the rest of English went. I only caught a couple of bits and pieces of what Mr. Krufka was saying, but lots of bits and pieces of paper.

The bell finally rang. I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, "Oh, sweet Jesus, thank you!" but thought better of it at the last minute.

Five feet from the door I felt a hand on my shoulder, stopping me. "Hey," Will's voice stated. He dropped yet another note onto the pile of stuff I was carrying. I give him my best exasperated sigh. "I want you to actually read this one," he claimed accusingly.

"If it's another one of your stupid questions, I'm going to kill you," I threatened.

"Don't worry, it's not. This time it's my number." He gave me one of his idiotic smiles that looked like he just woke up from a dream about a funny joke.

"I'll read it when I have time," I tell him.

"What about now? So I know you actually saw it."

I rolled my eyes, giving him my stuff to hold so I could open it, and when I did, I looked at it for about two whole seconds before condescendingly looking back at Will.

"See? I looked at it. Now leave me alone, I've got to get to class."

He cocked his head and raised an eyebrow, then he shrugged and handed me back my stuff. I glanced at the numbers a second time before crumpling the paper and shoving it in his hands.
