A year had gone by in an instant. Work on Lexa's coalition was taking shape as a handful of the twelve clans seemed swayed by the prospect of unity.
Lexa became a Commander of the people, travelling to visit leaders personally rather than remaining in the  sanctuary of Polis. She humbled herself without loosing her standing as Commander, a difficult balance to achieve. The majority of the clans had begun to respect Lexa a great deal, not just because was Heda but because she listened to each and everyone one of them. Lexa would be respected but not through fear but through diplomacy. She wanted what was best for her people, all of her people and that showed compassion.

Unfortunately, not all of the clans held respect for Lexa. There was some concern that Queen Nia of Azgeda was preparing an army ready to march. It wasn't clear if it was against the mountain, rival clans or even against Heda herself. Lexa had requested Queen Nia's presence in Polis to discuss the matter. The Ice Queen refused and sent one of her Generals on her behalf, a disrespectful move by Azgeda and a show of Nia's disdain for the Trikru Commander.
Nia's General was full of arrogance as Lexa questioned him, "Queen Nia deems it appropriate to send one of her Generals when called upon by The Commander?" Lexa sat upon her throne awaiting an answer.
The General sarcastically replied, "The Queen is very busy, I'm sure you understand the pressures of leadership, Commander." He smirked.
"Indeed," Lexa replied before continuing, "I'd like to have spoken with your Queen about rumours of an army being readied for battle in The Ice Lands."
The General continued with his bold behaviour, "I know of no such battle. Maybe your spies have been witness to our military exercises. The Queen expects her warriors to maintain a certain standard. Perhaps this differs to Trikru practices." His sarcasm wasn't lost on the room as tensions began to rise.
Lexa, however kept her composure, "Azgeda's practices seem very similar to an act of war, General. To be clear I think your Queen may wish to rethink them and her intensions." Her words silenced the General, "Send Nia my disappointment at her lack of attendance today."
The General nodded and turned to walk out of the room before Lexa called to him one last time, a show of who was really in charge that day, "Oh and General! The next time you're in my presence you will kneel. Trikru teaches respect for their Heda, maybe this differs to Azgeda practices."
