Starting with the last year of college. My two best friends; Daniella and Felicity had gotten boyfriends since freshman year and I'm the only one, of course, to not have one. I was a little unhappy with the thought of having a relationship. It meant commitment and I'm pretty sure I'm not ready to have half of my life taken away from me for some guy. Felicity thinks I'm just being stubborn. Am I? I don't know, I don't wanna take the risk just yet. First I need to finish my classes and keep going to work, then maybe I'll think about that whole relationship thing.
"Yo Cass, when is the fashion show at?" Daniella asked. "I'm not so sure, I thought it was next week. Or maybe they moved it because of the college fair that is happening on this week and a little bit of next week." I replied. Daniella nodded her head. We were walking to the main building, Felicity needed to get to the art room so she could finish her painting for the school Gallery.
"Have you seen Laurence lately? He's been acting strangely." Daniella asked, Felicity, stopped short and turned to us slowly. "Laurence and I have been having fights lately.." Daniella and I looked at her with a confused look. "What do you mean? When did it happen?" I asked her. "Two nights ago." She looked at us hoping we wouldn't screech at her. Daniella twitched slightly, but I held her back. She's known as the fighting and yelling type. "Why didn't you tell us then?" I asked quietly. "He warned me not to. He said that if I told you guys what he and I were going on about, you would go after him and he'll not regret doing something to you both." She swallowed hard at us and started fidgeting a little with her thumbs.
"What did he do?" Daniella asked after she calmed down a little. "I caught him with Sabrina in the Library doing a project. And I know I shouldn't worry but I wasn't so sure why he was with her when they didn't have any classes together. I brushed it off a little until the next day when I had to write that research paper. There he was again only this time, he was rubbing her leg and she didn't do anything about it. I might sound childish and all. It feels like Highschool all over again. I felt rejected and betrayed that Laurence would do such a thing to me. So I went over to one of his friends and decided that maybe he would know the answer to what was going on between Laurence and Sabrina. He was about to tell me what was going on until Laurence "caught" us and yelled at him for touching me inappropriately. I tried telling Laurence that he was only trying to whisper something to me, but that clearly didn't get through his brain."
She paused for a bit and took a breath before continuing, "He ignored me and went straight to his friend, grabbed him by the collar and cursed at him for touching me sexually. I was confused at that point wondering what would get him the idea that his friend and I had a thing when clearly I was loyal to Laurence. So his friend pushed him back and went off at him questioning who said that because he treats me like a little sister because of the strong relationship he has with Laurence and the strong relationship between me and Laurence. Laurence, of course, ignored him and brought up how Sabrina told him that his friend and I had sex a couple nights ago behind his back. Which was a lie because I was with you two at Cassandra's house for your mom's 50th birthday." Felicity stopped talking and looked at us.
Daniella and I looked at each other and that's when Daniella snarled and started to crack her knuckles, I held her back once again. "So are you two good or?" I asked. "He wanted a break. He said that he needed some time to think about what has happened. I said that maybe that would help and hopefully we could go back together." Felicity sighed, "But this morning before I met you guys at the cafe, he had his arm slung around Sabrina's shoulder and they looked like they were together. She was blushing and he was smiling. Kind of like how he and I used to be back during Freshman year."
She wiped a tear that escaped and I pulled her into a hug. "Don't cry, Felicity. He's just wasting his time and doesn't clearly see that Sabrina is spreading nonsense into the air." Daniella joined the hug and she started singing kumbaya out of nowhere, leaving a giggled Felicity and I as we break the hug. "I know how to make you guys feel better, four years and it still works." She smiled proudly. "Oh hush up already, you still suck at singing," I replied earning a glare from her. But we laughed afterward and we headed into the art room.
After Felicity had finished her art painting we had to go up the library to meet up with Christopher, Daniella's boyfriend. "He texted me saying to meet him by the nonfiction section," Daniella said, she was on her phone smiling as she was texting. She clearly wasn't paying any attention, I was about to tell her to move to the left but she knocked right into someone, sending her phone face front on the floor with a crack. "Fuck!" she grabbed her phone and cursed at the guy that she bumped into. I looked up to see who it was and I just froze. The guy standing there was_ He was just drop-dead gorgeous. He rubbed the back of his neck and gave Daniella a half smile. "I'm sorry, but next time you should look up and not be on your phone." Felicity and I looked at each other and we giggled as Daniella rolled her eyes. "Yeah, well you should've moved out of the way." She placed her hands on her hip and glared at him. He smiled and laughed, his pearly white teeth showing and causing my heart to go wild. I felt like back in Highschool with my crush. "Well, I was distracted by someone actually." Felicity grabbed my arm and whispered in my ear. "It was definitely you." I shushed her and she just laughed at my now crimson face. Daniella just shook her head "Whoever it was, I don't wanna know. Unless it's one of my friends, then I'd like to know." and with that said she grabbed us and pulled us in the direction of the library. I looked back seeing him shaking his head and chuckling and he walked into the nearby classroom.
"He was definitely talking about you!!!" Felicity squealed and she pinched my arm. "Hell to the no. He can't like something ugly like me. Can he?" I looked at Daniella who just shrugged her shoulders. "Who knows. He was alright looking tho." She swung her arm around my shoulder and pulled me close. "It's okay my precious little angel. We'll find someone who'll treasure you!" I laughed as she let go of me. "Yeah, and maybe it could be that guy Daniella bumped into!" Felicity replied. "Maybe. We'll have to see." I said with a sigh.
We walked into the library and Daniella went on ahead without us looking for Christopher. Felicity grabbed my arm and pulled me into the nearby aisle of books and snarled. "Hey, you okay?" She shushed me and poked her head out. "I just saw Laurence." I looked in the direction she was looking at and there he was, with Sabrina yet again. I tried my best to listen on to what they were saying but I couldn't hear with Felicity breathing on me. "Go find out what they are saying please! And meet me back here when you hear something interesting." She pushed me in their direction and I stumbled into one of the bookshelves and pretended to find a book.
"So have you talked to Felicity?" Sabrina's squeaky voice ripped out. How can Laurence deal with her? Yet even like her over Felicity? "No, but she's always around her friends and I never get the chance to see her anymore or talk to her. I know we had to break it off but I miss her and it's just hard." Laurence misses Felicity? That's gotta be some joke, right? "Why do you miss her? She cheated on you with your best friend and she wasn't loyal enough to tell you about it herself. Instead, she just kept it from you hoping you won't find out about her little fling with him." I glanced over while switching to another book and Sabrina had her hand intertwined with his. I gagged a little, her ugly fingers make me puke. "You're right. How could she do this to me? I didn't think she had it in her to do such a thing like that." He let go of her hand and hid his face with his own hands. She started to rub his back and it just gave me the creeps. "Well, things happen. You're lucky to have me." With that said, she kissed the top of his head and made eye contact with me and smirked. "I'll be right back." She got up and I knew she was gonna come after me.
I quickly put the book back and walked away from the sight of the table. Before I got the chance to go back to Felicity, Sabrina turned me around and had her hands on her hips. "What are you? Some spy for little Felicity? Trying to get her to go back with Laurence? Not gonna happen. If Laurence is with me, she can't go near him. He is mine now and there's nothing you or your friends are gonna do about it. I think it's best if you back off and leave the true love birds away." She waited for my answer but someone spoke for me. "I don't think trying to scare the girl is gonna help Sabrina. I think you should stop telling Laurence lies." Sabrina growled and stomped away like a middle schooler. "Thank you_" I turned around and that drop-dead gorgeous guy was standing in place. "You're welcome. What's your name?" I choked on my saliva, utterly shy to speak now. "Uh...it's uh.." Dangit!!! "Her name is Cassandra." Thank god that Felicity saved me or else I would've fainted right in front of him. "Well Cassandra, that's a beautiful name for such a beautiful lady." I nodded my head and Felicity wrapped her arm around my shoulder. "Indeed she is, this single lady is so beautiful I just get jealous sometimes." She laughed as I blushed, trying to get her away and to stop making me all embarrassed and stuff. "Well, I'll see you and your friend around." He grabbed my hand and kissed the top of it before leaving me flabbergasted. Felicity squealed and I couldn't help but smile. "We so gotta tell Daniella!!" She grabbed my hand and we went looking for her.
What just happened?!
