When did you start writing fanfiction?
December of 2012 (Like my really, really bad stuff)
What is one of your inspirations to write fanfiction?
Shakespeare.
It sounds weird, but it kind of just gives me hope to write, and even though he doesn't write in modern day English, it's just a sort of big inspiration for me.
Is writing a career or a hobby?
I'd like to become a journalist when I grow up and write in magazines or newspapers (probably online since they're phasing out newspapers), so as of right now while I'm 14, it's just a hobby.
If you see writing as a hobby, would you think of it as a career in the future?
Yes.
Do you ever have writers block? If you do, how do you over come it?
Sometimes I just don't feel like writing, or don't know what to write. A lot of people say they have "writers block" as an excuse as to not update, which is silly because if they feel so pressured to update, they probably won't come up with good stuff or enjoy writing it in the first place. My way to over come "writers block" is to basically just write. I like to listen to Mayday Parade if I can't come up with absolutely anything because their lyrics are relatively deep enough to give me some sort of inspiration.
Do you work with an outline or do you just write?
I normally just write. I have tried to work with an outline in the past, but it's normally just because I wanted something fun to do and I love organizing my thoughts, yet it never seems to help.
What is the easiest part of writing a story?
Prologues.
Prologues are honestly the best because they can be a simple quote if you want to take the lazy way out, or you give some insight on a character. I love it because you're not expected to do too much in the fan fiction world, and you get votes and comments off of them (not to sound rude or ungrateful) by doing almost nothing. It's basically the easiest part of writing a fan fiction.
What is the hardest part of writing a story?
I think once you're nearing towards the end of a fan fiction you really just can't wait to complete it. And then, there's always the struggle of deciding whether or not you want a sequel. A lot of people write sequels when there shouldn't be one, which is obnoxious if you're a reader and feel pressured into reading it. So maybe I'd say sequels.
What is your main goal of writing stories on wattpad?
By writing on Wattpad I get a ton of good feedback. Like, the other day, instead of someone commenting for me to update on one of my sequels to another fan fiction of mine, someone told me that since the book is based one year later, the main character sounds like she's really matured an entire year. And I love hearing little things like that that show I'm doing something right.
Do you want any of your stories to be published?
I think it'd be really cool to get something of mine published, and with a small name change, it's possible. I'm not sure if anything of mine is worthy of being published, but I have seen plenty of not so good books published before, so maybe.
What would you like to tell people that are new to wattpad and are just beginning to post stories?
Probably to just write something really unique. A lot of people think they're doing some original, but it's completely cliche and it gets entirely annoying reading the same book twenty times in a row. You've got to read around a bit before getting to the writing, never write the same book twice.
