Obviously Human

Christi and I were laying on the floor of a cliff. I took her here to tell her about me. To tell her that we are mates. To explain the mate bond. To explain what I am, a werewolf.

She's obviously human, if you haven't understood that yet.

I don't want to tell her. Even thought she has to know and the truth will reveal itself soon. Maybe when she's pregnant, she realizes that her stomach is growing faster and that our child will be born six months earlier than a human child.

Beside the point, I don't want to get her into pack messes. I'm alpha of the Blood Moon Pack. Our pack is the largest and most pride worthy in the country. You could say we're are the best in the business.

The problem is how popular are pack is. We are known for fear and are targeted by rouge and lower ranking packs. We are also targeted by hunters. Other supernaturals aren't known near our territory but I don't think it'll be long till they start migrating towards us.

Vampires and other mythical creatures are more towards the east coast or in the middle of the country. We live on the west coast.

If she lets me mark her, she will most likely turn. If she accepts my different features, she will have to turn eventually. Human mates are also targeted. They are stronger than the average human. Strong enough to somewhat keep up with their wolf mate but weaker than any werewolf in a pack.

During a time right before a war, I'd have to turn her. Packs who don't have a Luna fighting with their warriors are put to shame. Knowing Christi, she would want to keep her humanity, instead of tarnishing it with a werewolf gene but she would rather loose part of herself and gain a wolf spirit to save innocent people she is meant to watch over.

"Cole?" I heard her say from beside me.

I turned towards my beautiful mate as she put her hand on my chest. I hummed in response.

"You've been really quiet. Are you okay?"

"Missing the melodic sound of my voice already pumpkin?" I said in a teasing voice. I tapped the tip of her nose while doing so.

"No. To the voice part and that nickname."

"I thought pumpkin was cute. Isn't that right apple?"

"Apple?" She looked at me like I was crazy. One of those looks that scream 'are you kidding me?'

I smiled sheepishly at her, "Like apple of my eye."

She rolled her eyes and pointed to the stars above us. She sighed and pointed out an array of stars that looked like a witch. She laughed her angelic laughed and told me to go star watching with her.

Our voices soon melted into the soft wind as we finished our 'star watching'.

"Christi?" I called out. Time for operation... I never actually made a name so...

She hummed in response as she hurried herself deeper into my side.

"Do you think supernatural creatures are real?"

Her head slowly raised, "I believe that there's something out there that humans don't know about."

"I'm taking that as a yes."

She laughed at me saying okay.

"Do you believe in werewolves?"

"Werewolves?"

"Yeah. Like wolves that-"

"I know what werewolves are, Coley." She thought for a second, "Not really."

Shit. Well this is going to be one long night.
