Chapter Twenty-Five
(Meanwhile, with everybody else in the club)
Gennis: *goes to stage* ATTENTION EVERYBODY!!!
The DJ stops the music.
Gennis: Deja, please, come here.
Deja's Thoughts: The hell is going on???
Deja: *walks on stage*
Gennis: *looks into her eyes* Deja. You are so amazing. I can't wait to spend the summer with you. I know this is moving kinda fast, but I may spend the rest of my life with you...
Everybody in club: Awwwww!!!
Gennis: (continues) *pulls out a 10k diamond heart-shaped necklace* Will you be my girlfriend, please?
Deja: Yes!!!
Thoughts: It's about damn time!
Whole club: *starts cheering*
Gennis: Now let's eat some cake....AND PARTY!!!
Everybody starts eating and dancing while the crew heads back to VIP.
Monnique comes out of nowhere looking distraught.
Girls' Thoughts: Smh...
Boys' Thoughts: Smh...
Monnique: Langston, where are you? (in tears)
Langston's Thoughts: What the hell does she want?
Langston: (aggravated tone) What Monnique?
Monnique: (now sobbing) I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it.
Langston: Whatever man.
Monnique: Please don't be mad.
Langston: Mad?? About what? About my girlfriend going off with some rapper she said was sexy?? Mad about that?!
Monnique: (getting really mad) *accent starts coming in* I'm sorry ok! But I wouldn't have been with him in the first place if you were around instead of getting a dance from some hoe!
Everybody notices the argument but decides it's best to let them be with themselves.
Langston: Who are you to call someone a hoe?!
Monnique: I'm someone that just got raped!! And has been getting raped for the past ten years Langston! Yea, that's who I am! My foster dad has been raping me and my sisters all this time! How you feel?!
Langston: Oh, babe, I'm so so---
Monnique: Too late for that! *storms out the club*
All of VIP got quiet and the girls start looking embarassed while Langston is staring at the spot where Monnique was just standing.
That chapter was.....lord have mercy!
