15) I Guess He’s Staying (5 Months 17 Days)

I was stood in the lounge, brushing my hair in the mirror. Alejandro was sat on the sofa playing with Coley; he was actually really good with him. ‘You two need to speed up,’ my mum instructed as she rushed into the lounge, she was in her work clothes seen as she has to go straight to work once she’s dropped us off at school. ‘Ale, where are you shoes?’ mum asked as she looked at Alejandro who carefully put Coley onto the sofa.

‘I’ll go fetch them,’ he muttered as she stood up before rushing off up the stairs. Today is Alejandro’s first day at school; mum decided that seen as Carlos has vanished, she’ll look after Ale for a little while.

‘Bella, you look perfect; now stop brushing your hair,’ my mum insisted as she picked Coley up from the sofa. Coley instantly clutched to my mum’s hair which made me giggle.

‘Are you going to be home after school or do we have to walk?’ I asked my mother who was trying to put Coley into his car-seat without him ripping her hair out. For a baby, Coley has a really strong grip.

‘I’m working late tonight so you’ll have to find your own way home, also you have to cook but please don’t order some takeout,’ my mum begged.

‘Fine then, no takeouts. We’ll make something real fancy,’ I smiled as I tied my hair into a high pony tail seen as it was now lug-free.

‘Ale, are you ready?’ my mum called up the stairs as she handed Coley, who was tucked up in his car-seat, to me. I carefully took him as I made my way to the car.

Louisa was sat beside me in our tutor room, Alejandro was supposed to be in tutor as well but he had to go and get registered properly with my mum. ‘So the council actually let Alejandro stay?’ Louisa asked as she crossed her legs on her chair.

‘I don’t know what’s happening, mum said she doesn’t want me to get involved,’ I told Louisa simply. ‘A social worker came over the other day and because Ale practically has no other family, mum is the best option for now. It isn’t for definite though,’ I finished.

‘How do you feel then? I mean you’re no longer the only child,’ Louisa smirked as she took her phone from her pocket and began searching random things.

‘With Coley it doesn’t feel like I’m an only child anyway; me and Ale have had some pretty good times already and he actually isn’t that bad of a brother,’ I admitted, Alejandro really wasn’t that bad; I mean we actually get along.

We were still in tutor when Alejandro finally returned. The entire tutor group turned to look at him as he walked, casually into the room. ‘Ale,’ I spoke, attracting his attention. Alejandro flashed me a quick smile as he came over to me and Louisa.

‘This school is massive,’ Alejandro spoke as he perched on the table next to me. ‘I mean it took me like fifteen minutes to find this room,’ he continued.

‘You’ll get over it,’ I smirked, Alejandro just scowled at me.

‘It’s been ages since I was last in school,’ Alejandro told me, that’s actually something I’ve never spoken to him about.

‘Why? When were you last in school?’ I asked feeling rather interested.

‘When I was like seven, that was when I moved out of my mums and in with Carlos,’ Alejandro told me, I looked at him in shock.

‘Are you being serious?’ Louisa asked, at least I didn’t have to ask. Ale just nodded.

‘Dad didn’t want me to go to school, he told the government that he would home school me; he never has though. I don’t even know how to spell in Spanish let alone English,’ Alejandro explained, well he’s going to be stuffed when trying to work in a school. ‘I only know how to speak English because we spent most of our time in America.’
