"You're everything I want to be,
You're the only thing I need,
My heart belongs to you,
I'm begging on my knees." - Bach's Revenge debut album, track 7
Talia cleared her throat into the microphone, which caused a hush through the crowd. "Hey ladies! What do you think of the V-day dance?"
The crowd cheered in response.
"I'm almost afraid to ask but what do you think of our very own Bach's Revenge?"
The response was nearly deafening and as much as she didn't want to, Charlie smiled. Her eyes darted to Sebastian who stood with his hands in his pockets, looking at his shoes. "Okay, so here's the deal," Tally said. "We at Windsor High are going to have ourselves an auction of sorts."
More hollering.
"Do you want to know what you're bidding on?"
Charlie smirked. Everyone knew damn well what they were bidding on. Whispers at who was going to bid on who had been on everyone's lips for most of the night, but regardless, the crowd played along.
"Ever wonder what Lane's moves are like?"
This prompted some catcalls.
"Or how about if Robbie, the class clown is as clumsy as you think?"
Cheers and whistles.
"How many of you have wondering how strong Sawyer's arms are? What they'd feel like holding you close?"
This elicited the biggest response so far. Sawyer was definitely not lacking popularity points with the opposite gender.
Tally kept going. She was a natural up there and it wasn't a farfetched idea for Charlie to picture her as a talk show host, or a motivational speaker. "And I can't even begin to imagine how many of you have thought about what it'd be like to have Sebastian at your side, maybe singing you a little song?"
Sawyer's response was good, but Sebastian's was outrageous. Girls were waving their auction paddles frantically, jumping up and down screaming like lunatics. "Without further ado," Tally said. "Let the bidding war begin."
Lane went for four hundred dollars. Robbie went for five hundred. Charlie thought for sure things were going to get ugly when it came time for bidding on Sawyer because Lilah had pooled money together with friends and was up against DeeDee, McKenzie's elite sidekick. Charlie prayed for Lilah to win. She did with a bid of seven hundred and seventy five dollars. Sebastian was next, and Charlie didn't want to pretend not to care anymore, but she didn't have more than a hundred dollars on her, and judging by the auction so far, girls brought their parents pocket books, lined fully willing to spend whatever it took.
"And now," Tally said. "The moment you've all been waiting for ladies, Bach's Revenge front man, vocalist, Sebastian Russo. We'll start the bidding at two hundred dollars."
A paddle flew up in the air. "Two hundred," Mia Blackman shouted.
"Two fifty," McKenzie threw her paddle in the air.
"Four hundred," Isabelle Desousa yelled.
"Four fifty," McKenzie said.
"Five hundred," Mia retorted.
"Five fifty," Isabelle yelled.
"A thousand," a voice shouted. Charlie knew the deep drawn out drawl of its owner. Why was Sawyer bidding? A joke?
