"You're lovely little dangerous,
Like leaves of poison ivy,
In my veins like acid rain,
'Till darkness comes to find me."
- Bach's Revenge debut album, track 1
The meeting with the executives from Moody Records was that morning. Normally, Sunday wasn't prime time for business meetings, but the Moody execs were flying back to Los Angeles later that afternoon, so despite giving up a few hours of their weekend, everyone agreed. Robbie sat waiting on the porch when Sebastian pulled up. He opened the door and took his spot in the passenger seat with a grin that looked like he might need an exorcism the way his lips were peeled back from his teeth.
"What's so funny?" Sebastian asked.
"Dude, I was just thinking. As soon as this little gig pays off, even a bit, I'm getting some wheels."
"Might not make that much cash." He had no idea how much this little venture would net them and wasn't counting on much.
Robbie retrieved a Twinkie from his coat pocket, which was disgusting. Sebastian fought his gag reflex, unable to comprehend how anyone could indulge in sweets first thing in the morning.
"No man," Robbie spoke with a mouthful. "Doesn't even have to be a nice car, a sedan would be okay, hell anything with four wheels and an engine looks pretty good. Even Sawyer's got that decrepit motorcycle."
"Yeah, true enough," Sebastian agreed. "I guess you only need a couple grand."
"So-uh-I heard," Robbie said solemnly.
"Heard what?"
"'Bout, Charlie."
His jaw tensed. "Fuckin' Sawyer. He's like a chick. He needs to start his own gossip column, I swear."
"Nope. Try again."
He raised an eyebrow. "Lane?"
"Yeah," Robbie nodded. "He called me at like one in the morning to tell me not to ask you about it."
"Yet, still you ask," Sebastian pointed out. "Thanks."
"I had to."
"Whatever. It didn't go well. There, you're in the loop."
"What are you going to do?" Robbie asked.
"Move to Mexico."
Robbie smirked and held up the remnants of his snack cake. "I wonder if Mexico has chili peppers in their Twinkies."
The restaurant was filled with the Sunday brunch crowd. Men, women and children all dressed in their best stopping for a bite to eat after church. Sebastian looked down at his own attire, a worn t-shirt and dark blue jeans, maybe he should've dressed better.
Robbie read his mind. "Don't worry about it. You're about to be their newest golden boy, it isn't going to matter what you wear."
Mac Jensen and Lance Williams were already seated in a booth at the far back, he knew because he'd been introduced to them for about ten seconds following their big win. He scanned the place for Sawyer and Lane who hadn't arrived yet. Sebastian squared his shoulders, and held his head up, sauntering over to the table with an air of confidence he didn't really feel. He extended his hand. "Mr. Jensen, Mr. Williams."
