The Lost Dragon (Harry Potter OC)

Saying Goodbye

I knocked on the door of Apartment 23.

Hermione answered the door, wearing a sweatshirt and some dirty shorts.

I looked at her and said,"You look like you had a fun night."

"Shut up." She said pushing the sweatshirt down her legs.

"Why'd you leave me at the wedding? I had to spend the night at the burrow, Harry had to levitate me home."

"Sorry, you looked like you were having fun with Teddy. Sorry about that."

"I wanted to just have a look around, you know before I left." I said.

I looked at the couch where Hermione calmed me when I was crying after almost killing Quimbly. (It also could be where Hermione and Draco did it last night but hey.)

I looked out at the porch where I had my coming back party.

I looked at the hallway where I had danced with Donny after realizing I was no longer homeless. 

I looked at the table where I had left a note that started my sage journey.

I looked on the balcony where Donny had slept on and my DIS squad had danced on.

I saw Draco and Hermione looking at me, I thought to myself,'They're going to be great parents one day.'

"I can't thank you enough for the help you guys gave me. Honestly you-"

They interrupted by hugging me.

I held them in my arms. And smiled at them,"I envy the children you'll have, they'll have the best parents in the whole world."

Draco pulled at his collar as Hermione nodded and said,"Thank you, we'll miss you Michael."

"I'll miss you too." I said.

I went across the hall and knocked on the door.

Blaise and Pansy answered it and I said,"Sorry for making you miss your honeymoon for me. I wanted to say goodbye to everyone before I left."

"It's fine mate, we're going tomorrow anyway." Blaise said.

"I'm going to go to the cliff, before sundown, I'll fly off. Get the word out to everyone, make sure Alicia is there." I told Draco. 

He nodded as I gripped Hermione's hand and we apparated to the cliff. Macy had already flown there.

I opened the packages I had attached to my harness on Macy.

"Whoa, that's your dragon?" Hermione asked.

"She's not mine, she's just my friend." I said.

I took out my dragon riding suit. I put it on, changing in to it.

I stretched wearing the suit. I checked the packages as Hermione asked me,"Do you have enough food?"

"Yes."

"And water?"

"Yes."

"And friends?" She asked looking at me.

I looked at Donny who barked.

I smiled and said,"Yes."

"Are you sure about this?' Hermione asked me as I attached Donny to his dog saddle.

"Yeah, yeah. I've told you a hundred times Hermione. I'm going."

"When are you going to come back?" She asked.

"I'm always up for a wedding." I said.

"When I get married?" She asked.

"Yup, I'll have the best gift I choose from my travels."

Hermione kissed my forehead and said,"Stay safe."

"I have a dragon and an Irish Wolfhound to cover my back. Plus a neat number of spells."I said as witches and wizards began apparating to the cliff.

The ocean crashed against the white cliff as everyone stayed silent. The sun began to go down, as the sky became a beautiful shade of orange as the sun dipped below the darkening horizon.

"I'll miss you little brother." Luna said with Theo at her side.

"I'll miss you too Luna."

"We'll all miss you." Ginny said.

"Why does he have to go?" Teddy asked cutely.

"To gain wisdom." I said,"I'll be back."

I looked at Alicia.

She spoke before I could and said,"I'll think about you every day. I'll be waiting for you Michael."

I kissed her passionately, she deepened the kiss.

I broke away and said,"When I come back, it might be years. You might be a woman."

"And you'll be a man." She said.

I jumped on Macy's back and flicked the reins, I looked at the small crowd below. Theo, Luna, Harry, Ginny, Pansy, Draco, Hermione, Blaise, Teddy, and Alicia who looked at me smiling. They all began to wave and say,"We'll miss you!!"

"Fly back soon!"

"Stay safe!!"

Macy lifted her wings and began to rise. She took off, flying into the horizon.

A tear rolled down Hermione's cheek.

She said,"He'll fly back now, I'm sure of it."

"Hermione, he's not flying back." Draco said as Macy continued flying away.

Macy kept flying into the sunset, disappearing into the horizon. Michael looked over his shoulder and smiled. He wrote a final note in his journal:Began my sage's journey, more entries to come. Along with more wisdom.

Hermione said,"The Lost Dragon found his home. He'll return back home one day."

Michael stared up at the glittering night sky, Donny snoring away as Macy kept flying.

As Macy flies over the vast ocean, with the glittering wide milky way above Michael, he closes his eyes, and dreams of his worldwide journey ahead of him.
