The familiar sound of beeping fills my ears as my eyes shot open. I sat up quickly and remember what today is. I hear footsteps outside of my bedroom door. The door opens and it's Samantha. "Hi Claire, ready for today's move?," she asks in her little 5 year old voice. I give her a smile as she runs over to me and gives me a big bear hug. "Yeah, I guess so...even though I don't want to leave this place." Sam gives me a confused expression. "What." "You just seem so...down about us moving. What's up with that?" I look at her, trying to look sad in any type of way. I let out a sigh and wrapped my arms around her. "I'm sorry I just don't like the feeling of leaving since we've both been her since we were born. Even Mom and Dad lived here before we were born. Don't you remember? It's heart-breaking to know that we're putting all those great memories behind us." Sam gave another confused look. I understood why. I smiled a little and patted her on the head. "Heh...sorry, Sam, maybe you'll know a little more about it when you're older," I said.
After I got dressed, I went downstairs to find a whole lot of boxes all over the floor. Two or three kept walking in and out of the door, putting the boxes into the back of a moving truck. I saw my parents helping out. I remembered my boxes that I packed yesterday and ran back up the stairs to get them. I asked Sam for assistance and of course she said "yes". It took 4 hours to get all of our boxes to the truck and I was relieved when we finished afterwards. My family and I got into our car and drove a few blocks down the road. Then got the entrance ramp to go on the highway. I stared out the window the whole time, thinking about life would be living in a whole new area. On the outside, I tried my best to look happy and excited for this new life. But in the inside, I felt sad and disappointed. I felt a few seconds of vibration in my pocket. It was my phone. I took it out of my pocket and turned it on. It was a text from one of my friends, Ethan. "Wish you were still here with me and the others. We really miss you even though it's been like 20 minutes since you left. Make sure you stay in contact with us and I hope you make it to your new destination," it said. I smiled and typed, "Thanks miss you guys, too. Say hi to everyone for me!" I turned my phone off and stared out the window for the rest of the ride. Maybe its for the best. Plus, I do want my dad to have a job that he loves to work at. Guess I'm gonna have to suck it up and deal with it, I thought to myself. I let out a sigh and my mom turned around towards me. "Everything okay, sweetie?, she asked. "Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine," I replied. But the truth is, I didn't feel fine at all!
