7:16AM — Leila
No. No. No.
I'm late for work. I ran to look for Kyungsoo. I looked every Emergency rooms in the hospital but he wasn't there. I reached for my phone and called Kali. Three rings and I yelled, "Yah, where are you guys?! Did you just leave me here alone in the hospi—"
"I'm okay, Lei. I'm with Kali. Eating breakfast."
It was Kyungsoo's voice. Hyung must've put the speaker on. I smiled like an idiot as I ran to the cafeteria. I'm so glad that he's already okay. I spoked to the phone, "I'll go there. Wait for me." I declined the call and put my phone inside my pocket.
When I arrived at the cafeteria, I saw them eating breakfast. My eyes went to Kyungsoo, who was smiling while talking to Kali. He took a sip from his water bottle and our eyes met.
Thud.
He smiled at me and mouthed, "Come sit down." I giggled before I go to their table. I sat beside Kali and they handed me a bowl of rice with eggs and bacon. I thanked them and started eating.
They were talking about books and authors. I just found out that they go to the same creative writing class and philosophy. That's why they were close. I wanted to speak up but I was too shy to. I watched Kyungsoo passionately talking about writing. How he loves writing and why is it important to make interesting stories.
He also told that a pen is mightier than a sword. He got that preference from a book called Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. It was one of his favorite childhood novels.
He also added that he got the idea of it while reading Philippine's literature. There was this Filipino writer who died for the country and made novels. He was inspired to write more poems, songs and novels because of his idols. He dreams to be an author, he doesn't want to be famous, all he wanted is to write books and inspire people.
I enjoyed just watching them blabber and looking at Soo. Maybe it was his way to heal himself. Time passed and I almost forgot about work, Jace texted me and asked where was I, I told him everything and he passed the message to our manager.
"Actually, my sister likes to read and write too. She can sing too." Kali interrupted and my eyes rolled. I don't like opening up about me writing and singing. Only .1% of the population of Los Angeles knows that I write and sing.
Kyungsoo leaned over, "Really? how come you never told me?" I giggled and push him softly, asking him to sit properly.
"I don't really want to open about this but my Hyung decided to. I just write and sing but never share them to others except for him and Jace." I explained, let out a sigh, "I wanted to be a Psychiatrist someday but it would take a lot of years and money." I looked down because I can feel Kyungsoo looking at me.
"Wanted? You can still study. I mean, look at Kali hyung. He's still studying and pursuing writing. You should too, Leila. You don't know how worth it would be. You can help thousands—or even million, of people." He threw his hands up in the air and tapped the back of my hands, "In the end, it'll be worth it. I'll wait for you to be a Psychiatrist."
I shyly smiled at his statement, how can you not fall for him? He's just too squishy and positive for this world. I looked up to him and to Kali. I nodded, "I'll try. I can't just leave the cafe. It'll be hard!"
Kyungsoo rolled his eyes and muttered, "Is it because of Jace?" I was surprised by his statement, even Kali, who spitted his water on the floor. He looked at us, confused and people was looking at us.
I giggled, "Jace has a wife, doofus."
Yes, Jace is a married man. He doesn't like talking about his marriage. It's not like he doesn't love his wife, he believes that you shouldn't be telling people, "Hey, I'm married." He believes that marriage is sacred.
"Aish, I'm s-sorry. I thought y-you guys are so-mething." He avoided my look and drank his water. His fingers keep on fidgeting. "Soo?" I called his name for attention. He's still looking away.
"Asides from asthma, do you have other illness? Physical—mental?" I placed my hand on the top his hand and he finally looked at me. He pursed his lips and he shrugged, "I don't know. I-I keep on s-stuttering when I-I do mis-takes."
I nodded, "I'm not a professional or licensed Psychiatrist, but you should have a check up. If this happens again, please."
He nodded, "You finally got the idea."
"What idea?"
"The idea of waiting for you to be one." He smiled and Kali told that we should go now. He told us that Kyungsoo should rest because the doctors said he hasn't fully recovered but he'll be okay after a few absents and days.
I nodded and went off to go to home to have a shower. I need to go to work so I can earn money to go to college.
I'll do it for you, Soo.
