Another day of being a national fuck up.

Evan sighed as flopped onto his bed. Why couldn't things be like when they were all kids? Sure he was a loser even when he was young, but at that age you didn't get teased or messed around with as much. Everything was peaceful. Now it seems like even Hell itself is a better place than highschool.

He shifted himself horizontally on the bed, facing the ceiling. His thoughts were racing, mentally listing all the things he messed up today.

Let's see. Number one, you were late and the teacher yelled at you. Number two, you forgot that very important science paper at home that was due today. Number three, you may or may not have caused a kid to kill himself. What fun. Number five, you forgot what number comes after three for a small amount of time. Number six... Number seven...

The listing went on. Evan slowly came to realize that each time he listed another thing he messed up because being yourself isn't enough, he slowly tensed up until he eventually managed to curl himself up into a tight ball. He choked back a sob as he realized how his life was getting worse day by day. And there was no point in killing himself. He can't even do that correctly.

Alone with only his thoughts, the young teenager's eyes slowly shut. It seemed like the only time he was ever truly happy was in his dreams. He could be anything he wanted to be. He could be a hero to the world, the last man on Earth, anything. But even then, those could end up awful as well. He often nightmares that kept him up for weeks. Not even the soothing warmth of his favorite old, but comforting, blanket that he had named "William" when he was around three years old could help him calm down and rest.

Everything was calm for a small amount of time. It was dark, but Evan felt like he was finally at peace with himself. No one was there to tease him. No bad thoughts were there to make him feel worthless or alone.

Then he woke up.

His eyes snapped open to a room that wasn't his. The walls of the strange room was coated with a dark red paint that reminded him of the blood that flowed in his body. The nightstand was made out of wood so dark and damp it looked like it would break any minute. Much of the other wooden furniture items in the room, such as the door and a small bookshelf, were made of the same material. The room reeked of a corpse-like smell, causing Evan cover his nose with his arm, inhaling the scent of lotion instead.

He tried to stand up off the bed and see if the rest of the house was like this, but he found himself unable to move. Or at least his legs and the lower half of his torso was unable to move. His breath quickened as the panic slowly sunk in. Evan Hansen had many fears, but the feeling of being unable to move was one of the biggest.

As he was at the verge of a panic attack, he saw the door open. Emerging from the door was a small being the size of an upright armadillo with dark skin and feathers on certain parts of it's body, such as it's cheeks, elbows, and parts of the long hair it kept up in a ponytail. They wore round glasses and a short sleeve white dress with a pale blue ribbon on it that seemed simple, yet elegant. There also seemed to be little doodles of stars, bunny faces, hearts, and other cute little things on the sleeves that appeared to have been drawn on my a dark blue sharpie.

"Ah, you must be Evan Hansen! We've been expecting you for a while, sir. You were supposed to come in a week ago, but you didn't seem to sleep that week. That's very bad for your health, you know." She said, her voice portaying a much older person than he had thought the small feathery being to be.

"H-how do you know my name? Who are you? Where am I...?" Evan asked, his voice quivering with fear.

"You ask a lot of questions, Mr. Hansen."

"P-please, just call me Evan"

"You ask a lot of questions... Evan." She said, clearly uncomfortable using a first name basis. "My name's Alana Beck, and welcome to Hell."
