The closest thing to a romantic relationship eighteen-year-old Marley has ever experienced is kissing her precious Labrador puppy. She's just not the kind of girl to easily become caught up in a young relationship that is destined to fail. Besides, she's considered a girl with baggage--one of her brothers was tragically killed, and she's still coping with the ramifications of the shocking loss.
Spending the summer in Northern Michigan provides her with an escape from the pain; it offers a distraction from the frustrations consuming her life. Not only does the peaceful environment offer comfort, but also an unexpected friendship with her new neighbor, Sam, that allows her to expose the heavy emotions she's been containing for an entire year.
This summer, everything changes.
