Carl's POV

It's been a few weeks since Morgan, Caitlin, Jacob, and Alexis has joined our group. They are all valued members in our group, too. I'm so happy to see Jacob and Alexis again. I really thought they were dead. I'm not as happy to see Alexis though because we had a thing before the apocalypse. I mean, I was 11 so it wasn't serious or anything, but I saw her hanging out with another guy. I watched as she kissed him, before she ever kissed me. I was always thinking about Alexis during the apocalypse, until I met Morgan. Morgan is just so flawless and perfect, and she makes my heart melt every time I look at her. It sounds cheesy, but it's 100% true. I wish I could call her mine, but once I get attached, and something happens to her, I wouldn't be able to live with myself. But I'm still going to try and be her hero and I'm definitely going to protect her. I would take a bullet for her. For Morgan Evans. Because I'm in love with her.

Morgan's POV

Caitlin, Beth, Judith, and I were sitting in Carl and I's cell on the bottom bunk chatting about random stuff, when all of a sudden the topic of Carl came up.

"Morgan, you and Carl would be the cutest couple ever! He likes you, I can tell." Beth stated.

"Pfft. He doesn't like me. I think he likes that Alexis girl that he knew before the apocalypse." I told them

"No, he doesn't! He definitely likes you. You can tell! He has this certain sparkle in his eyes whenever he's around you. Do you... do you like him?" Caitlin asked me.

"No! Of course not!" I lied. I can't have them knowing because they'll tell Carl. But, I failed the mini test because they caught me blushing.

"You DO like him! I knew it! Tell him! You guys would make the cutest couple!" Beth said.

"Hey Judith, would Morgan and your big brother be cute together?" Beth asked Judith in a sweet baby voice.

"Beth, you are seriously asking a toddler that? If Carl and I would make a cute couple?" I asked Beth, and saw Judith nodding and giggling.

"See! I told you! Even Judith has seen the chemistry! Just talk to him! Or... I could talk to him for you? Caitlin and I?" Beth asked me.

"...Fine! Gosh, go talk to him! But he doesn't like me!" I told them.

"Does to!" Caitlin said as her and Beth handed me Judith and walked out of the cell to go talk to Carl.

Carl's POV

Jacob and I were talking about Morgan and Caitlin outside of the prison.

"Y'know, Caitlin is the only thing I can think about. She's just so gorgeous and kind. She's funny, even in these kinds of days. I like her a lot, man." Jacob told me.

"Dude, then go make your move! We only have so much time left." I replied.

"Hey, are you still thinking about Morgan? Dude, you should tell her how you feel. Girls are a sucker for lovestruck guys." Jacob said.

"She doesn't like me. She probably likes you or something. Wouldn't surprise me." I told him.

Jacob was about to reply when Beth and Caitlin walked up to us. Right away Caitlin walked up to Jacob and he put his arms around Caitlin and pulled her close. They weren't dating yet, but they're best friends now. She's still best friends with Morgan, but she's really close to Jacob. Like Morgan and I. Best friends.

  Best friends.

  Best FRIENDS.

Friends. That's all we'll ever be.

"So Carl, can I ask you something?" Beth said.

  "You just did," I chuckled.

"Haha I guess you're right. But on a more serious note, I need to ask you something important."

  "Ok? Shoot." I replied.

"Do you possibly like Morgan?" Beth asked me, batting her eyes and looking more innocent than she probably is.

"Um no I-I. Don't like her, of course.not, pfft why would you think that?" I said, clearly nervous.

"So you DO like her?! Ha, I knew it!" Beth said.

"Why are you so happy that I like her? How does this benefit you?" I asked Beth, curious.

"Duh! Morgan likes you, Carl!" Caitlin stated, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"We were sitting in your guys' cell when she admitted it." Beth told me.

"Really?!" Beth and Caitlin nodded, which made me extremely confident and happy.

"Well, go get your girl!" Jacob shouted, as an unhappy Alexis stood off to the side, folding her arms across her chest.

"What, Alexis? Got your panties in a twist?!" Jacob called out to her.

"Oh, shutup Jacob!" Alexis shouted, giving Jacob a deadly glare while Jacob chuckled.

Beth, Caitlin, Jacob and I thought up new ways for me to ask Morgan out, while Alexis stormed into the prison. Before Alexis got the chance to ruin things between Morgan and I out of jealousy, I told the others to stay put and followed Alexis in.

We got to Cell Block C, Morgan nowhere to be seen.

"Hey, Alexis! Stop." I called out to her. But she kept walking. "STOP!"

She finally turned around, tears falling down her dirty face.

"How come you like Morgan? I thought you liked me?" Alexis whispered.

"Yea when I was eleven, but I like Morgan now. I'm sorry, Alexis." I told her.

She started walking to me, ever so slowly. "Just admit it Carl, you still have feelings for me. Just admit it."

Even though I still had some feelings for Alexis, almost all of them belonged to Morgan. Yea, Alexis was pretty. Very pretty actually, but Morgan was gorgeous. Beautiful, stunning, perfect.

"No I don't. Don't say that. I like Morgan, not you Alexis." I told her.

"No, don't lie to yourself! You like me! We're perfect for each other!"

"No! I love Mor-" I started to say but was interrupted by lips on mine. Alexis'.

I kept telling myself to pull away, but for some reason I couldn't.

"See, if you really loved Morgan, you wouldn't kiss me back," Alexis said.

I was about to reply, when I heard another voice call out my name.

  "C-Carl?"

I turned, to see Morgan. Tears were streaming down her face.

"No, Morgan! It's not what it looks like! I promise!"

She started running, and I ran after her. She was running faster than me, so by the time I followed her out of the cell block, she was gone. I sighed, putting my face in my hands.
