Chapter 2: Elaine’s POV

Jonathan, the only human that angels can trust, is taking us to the mansion that we will be staying at for the next two years. He was waiting for us when the soft, glowing light came down for our descending from heaven. Jonathan, everyone calls him Johnny, has chocolate brown eyes with dirty blonde hair that falls at his eyes. He was wearing a tight black and orange shirt, which showed off his abs, and shorts. I presume that he came straight from a jog because he was sweaty and carried a bottle of water.

“Hey, Elaine and Lizzie. I’m Jonathan.” He said. We said our greetings and he held out his hand for some strange reason. We looked down at it in unison, and after a while he explained that we are supposed to shake it.

“We are delighted that you could give us a room to stay in,” I replied.

He was smiling at us when he said “No prob.”  Okay what does that mean? It is like he is speaking in a foreign language. Is it a common language or is it just him that says it?

We are entering what is called a driveway to the giant house. It is the color that the sand here has and has a dark brown door. “Wow this house is exquisite.” Lizzie said biting her lip. Did she like him? He was about twenty-three.

“Okay, I need to teach you guys how to talk like a normal person,” He said with a smirk.

“Thank you that might prove to be helpful. Will you please give us a tour of your house?” I asked him.

“Sure thing, girls.” Jonathan said giving a winning smile and a wink.

Lizzie’s cheeks are turning a red color from his gesture. My conscience told me. Angels don’t have normal consciences; they talk to you as if they were a real person.

Johnny swung the door open and let us into the house. The foyer was extravagant. The floor, he explained, is a blue tinted marble. Unfortunately, it is too slick for Lizzie and she slipped, but Jonathan caught her in his arms. They stayed like that for a minute. Lizzie is turning that red color again. He got her back on her feet with his hand on the small of her back. “You okay?” he asked.

          “Yeah, thank you” she muttered.

We all started up some stairs that seemed to float. He showed us a room he called a theater; it had comfortable seats and couches in it. After that, he showed us a couple of bedrooms and what’s called a game room. The kitchens (which I have learned that is where you make food) are very spacious. They both have black granite countertops and dark cabinets. The floor was an almost black bamboo wood. Whatever all this even is.

While he was talking about the rooms, Lizzie was staring at him. Surprisingly enough, Jonathan kept stealing glances at her as well. Oh, no this can not be good. “Lizzie, are you coming?” Johnny asked. I didn’t even notice we had left her behind.

She didn’t even acknowledge him saying anything; she just stood there, staring at him.

“I’ll get her.” I said, walking to Lizzie and pushing her toward where Johnny was standing.

“Do you need me to guide you?” he asked her, holding out his hand.

“Sure,” she said putting her dainty hand in his strong hand. He led us to my room first. Probably to get some privacy. My room was huge. It had a king size bed with a canopy over it. It had plush carpet that felt good to my feet, and the walls were painted a light blue color like the sky in the morning. I went into my new bathroom and was astonished. The shower is able to hold five people at once, and the bathtub could hold ten people. The closet is a walk-in that goes down fifteen feet and it’s thirteen feet across, Jonathan told me. I just stood there gaping at the whole thing. I mean, I come from Heaven and my room there was very beautiful, but this one was incredible. “Do you like it?” I vaguely heard Johnny say.

“I love it!” I exclaimed in excitement. I ran to my bed and leaped onto it. I cannot believe I’ll be living here for two whole years.

Lizzie’s POV

Johnny showed Elaine her room first, thankfully. She absolutely loved it, and I have to admit, even though I don’t like blue, that room was gorgeous. Watching Elaine jump on the bed reminded me of when we were kids.

I felt Jonathan tugging on my arm lightly. “Come on, Lizzie, let me show you to your room.” He said with a grin.

“Okay” I said not wanting to leave Elaine.

“Go ahead, Lizzie. I’m fine. Go have fun with your new room.” Elaine said to me reading my expression.

We left her room and he steered me to a room to the right of it. “And now, Liz, here is your suite,” he whispered to me, his breath warm on my neck, sending shivers down my spine.

My room looked exactly like Elaine’s room, except this one is all pink. “Johnny, I really like it.” I said trying not to make a fool of myself.

I felt his arms snake around my waist from behind me, and he rested his head on my shoulder. “I hoped you would. I really wanted you to like it here and feel like this is your home,” he whispered to me in the same way that sent another shiver down my spine.

We just kind of stood there for a moment in silence, it was kind of nice. Until I fell over.
