Lizzie's POV
School was a blur. We didn't have trouble making friends, everybody seemed to flock to us actually. We were nothing special in heaven, but on earth we were like super stars.
"Lizzie, Jonathan is waiting for us!" Elaine yelled, breaking me from my thoughts.
I nodded and quickly walked to his car with me head down, not wanting to be recognized.
I slid into the front seat with Elaine and Josh in the back seat.
"So, Lizzie, when will we get to see you use those wings of yours?" Jonathan said, I didn't even have to look to know he was smirking.
"Well, find a closed off field where there are no people around." I said, looking out the window, mesmerized by the changing scenery.
"Yeah! I've been dying to try these things out on earth!" Elaine squealed in my ear, snapping me out of my trance.
"There is one around here somewhere." Jonathan said, looking around.
"Hey, Jonathan, Lizzie got an interesting note today at school, but neither of us know what it mean." Elaine said, all I heard was Lizzie and note.
"Well, let me see it, sweet heart." he said winking at me, which made my cheeks heat up instantly.
I handed him the note, regarding his face as he read it; it turned from disgust to fury. His hands clenched the steering wheel until his hands were turning red.
"Well, what does it mean?" Elaine asked him curiously.
He let out a heavy breath and told her: "The guy who wrote it wanted to get intimate with her."
"Oh, well that's ridiculous! She'd only get intimate with you!" she exclaimed, covering her mouth right after she said that.
"Oh?" he asked, directing it at me.
I just blushed in reply, I've never said that to her, but it was still true nonetheless.
"Well, we might just have to make that happen some time." he winked. My face flushed, I couldn't tell if he was serious or kidding. He didn't say anything else just stared straight ahead and kept driving forward.
Jonathan drove up into an overgrown field that looks as if it hadn't been tended to in years. "Ready?" Jonathan whispered in my ear.
"As I'll ever be." I said, stepping out of the car, feeling the cool breeze blow my hair back. The other three did the same.
Elaine and I took off our windbreakers which we had to wear over our wings. Elaine's wings were beautiful they were white with brown speckles; mine were a deep brown that almost looked black. Elaine took a running start and slowly lifted into the air, her wings flapping gracefully.
I ran as well, lifting into the air very uncoordinated. It always took a while to get my balance once I was in the air.
Elaine was hovering high in the air waiting for me, her wings flapping with skill. "Wanna scare them?" she said evilly, wiggling her eyebrows.
"Sure." I said, shrugging my shoulders.
"Okay, we'll fly up a lot more, you'll bring your wings in and plummet to the ground!" Elaine said enthusiastically.
"I'm not sure...." I trailed off.
"It'll be fun! Come on!" she squealed happily.
"Fine." I surrendered following her up higher in the air.
"Alright," she said once we were much higher in the air, "at the last moment swoop up." she said, patting my back encouragingly.
I closed my eyes, folded my wings against my back, and fell down toward the earth rapidly. I opened my eyes to see the ground growing closer, I could see Josh's and Jonathan's faces covered with worry. My surrounding were spinning around me, trees blurring, everything was happening so fast. I snapped out of my thought quickly, swooping up just barely missing the ground. Adrenaline pumped through my veins as I hagan to rise again. 'I could have died.' was all that ran through my head. 'I should go back down and face the wrath of Jonathan and Josh.' I thought to myself.
I slowly lowered to the ground, seeing that Elaine was already down, being lectured by Josh about almost making me do a suicide stunt. Jonathan's face was worse of all, disappointment was spread all over his face. It broke my heart.
