Started in the light, pulled to the dark ( a Sharkboy and lavagirl story)

The death of two dreams

" hey max" Adriana giggled as she floated down towards them, heals clicking the ice.

" YOU WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?" Lavagirl yelled. She charged at Adriana but Max held her arms back.

" relax hot head your friend is fine. Well, for now" she looked at her nails ticking. " such a shame, I don't know what you see in him. He's so gullible I swear it was almost too easy"

" I have to go save him" max yelled.

" I wouldn't bother, you haven't received your powers yet Max. The darkness would finish you before you could even swim to the bottom of the floor." She eyed lavagirls frowning . " but for lavagirl she can survive my energy. Apparently her light envys my powers leaving her harmless" shooting a blast of darkness at her lavagirl whimpered as it evaporated into thin air.

" how do we know that he's not gone already?"

" the darkness takes 'time' to travel, his words or someone else's I recall, so it takes time to travel within his body. He's got like a couple more minutes left in him." Adriana shrugged. " well take away a few more depending on how long he can hold his breath" she stared deadly at lavagirl an evil grin on her face.  " so unless if you wanna disappear before you reach the bottom of the floor I'd advise you to let you lava friend go in and save him"  

lavagirl looked down at the water that was now pitch black. She cringed at the goop seeing a dark shadowy reflection in the water.

"I have to go" she whispered as max tugged her arm again.

" you can't, you'll die too"

" he's my best friend" she looked back at them with a sad look. " he would of done the same"

" I'm not letting you" she swiftly heated her hand causing it to burn him. He let out a small yelp as he retreated while she quickly dove into the water. Max turned to Adriana who just smiled at him.

" why? Why are you doing this to us?" He asked holding back a sob.

" you lied to me. Everyone said I was nothing, but yet you all really are just afraid of me. You think of me as a monster yet you never told me why" she spat her eyes glowing. Suddenly she sighed rubbing the bridge of her nose. " but minus told me everything, everything about my powers and how you guys really think me"

" we don't care who you are Adriana, you know that. Even before we found out you were a threat, before I did I still hung out with you right? " max pleaded "You were the only thing that supported me through the whole year and are you really just gonna ditch the last family you have?"

" shut up, shut up shut up just SHUT UP!" Adriana screamed holding her head. " I'm not the real Adriana, and you are not my family. Yours is sleeping soundly on earth while I, her soul, sucks up all of her dirty work; so don't worry you can choke back your tears cause she's fine, for now. Say goodbye to your dreams Max, and tell minus I'm ditching the plan. I'm sick and tired of him telling me what to do. Even in dreamland he still thinks he has a chance with me. "

she stomped past him bumping his shoulder to the ground. She stopped turning around with a grin on her face. " oh, and I'd help you friend if I were you. Would be a shame if you didn't see her face while she's still alive. Tata " with that she shot up into the sky blending in the darkness that covered it.

Max turned around to see lavagirl coughing while clawing the ice to drag her up. Swiftly he crawled to her grabbing sharkboy by the arms and dragging him to the ice. He pressed his hands against his chest checking for a pulse.
