Going Home

At the fort

"Done!" Announces Sam excitedly looking at her work, Bisquet and Whiskeys ears perk up at the sound of her voice. Sam had sketched a picture of Whiskey and Bisquet laying on the rocks with the trees growing behind them. "what" asks Katie turning around with a caterpillar on her hand. She glances at my sketch book " Oooh, let me see" Squeals Katie running over followed by Mel. Mel has some sort of green bug on her hand "Nice!" Mel's eyes widen. "What?" Nick shouts running over " Sam was skating again." Katie answers admiring the photo. "Wow!! You're getting good" Justin exclaims stopping behind them. "Thank you, we should be getting back so we can swim" I suggest checking my watch and closing my sketch book. "Ya, I 'm roasting" exclaims Nick dramatically" Picking up the larger backpack while Mel picks up the smaller one. We start walking and I call over my shoulder "Bisquet, Whisky come on" The two large dogs come barreling up with loling tongues, they stop next to me and begins to walk next to me. We make the long trek home, when we reach the fort we take turns changing into our colorful bathing suits. We set up our bright, colorful bathing suits, they could be seen from shore. We pass around a bottle of sunscreen and slather it on our arms, legs and noses. Mel is wearing an emerald green one piece with frills on the straps. Katie is wearing a bright pink two piece with white stripes and bows on her hips. Justin is wearing a navy blue one piece wetsuit, it covers his arms and down to his knees. Nick is wearing dark blue shorts with with light blue sharks swimming around on them. Hadies shorts are a deep,dark red with light orange stripes. I have on a dark purple two piece with dark magenta polka-dots, there are frills along my waist line and bows on my hips. I put my clear goggles on and look around to find that I'm the only one ready. "Last one in has to do the dishes!" I scream running barefoot onto the cool salt water. I get yells of protest as my friends hurriedly finish getting ready and run splashing into the freezing water. Justins the last one in because Katie pushed him and he fell into the hot sand. We dive in and out of the water, splash each other and play tag, laughing. We see a motor boat speeding through the water towards us. He stops a few metres away from us and we all swim up to the side of the boat gripping the railing, no longer being able to touch. The boat is white with red and blue stripes and flashing sirens. We instantly know it is a police boat and that it came for us. "Yes officer?" I greet the brown haired man driving the boat. "Which two of you kids are Hadies and Samantha Cooper?" demands the officer in a serious voice. "Us" Hadies responds pointing to me with a quiver in his voice. "I need you to come with me" commands the officer. "OK" I reply climbing into the boat and grabbing a towel followed by Hadies. "We'll grab our things and bring everything back with us" shouts Mel after us swimming away. We speed back to land and hop into a police car. We get to the station and Uncle Liam is already there. We run up to him and he hands us robes before giving us hugs. We hear the horrifying news and break down crying. We get questioned but I doubt it helped. The drive back was almost dead silent. When we got home, Hadies and I went straight upstairs and changed before crawling into bed and falling into a deep sleep. "Let me pour you guys some tea" offers Liam pulling two cups out of the cupboard and filling them with tea. He puts some sugar, cream and something else in the tea. "There" soothes Liam handing them the steaming mugs. Ten minutes later they were fast asleep.
