"Hey Sam" my closest friend Katie Mcouy shouts running up to me. I am sitting on a tree stump next to the dirt road that goes across our school. Our school is surrounded by a beautiful forest. Katie has short curly blonde hair and bright green eyes. Her nose is pointed slightly and she is always smiling. "Hey" I shout back. She stops next to me and collapses on the ground panting hard. "I...finally beat...the boys...here!" exclaims Katie smiling. "Not by much" Nick Mcouy, Katie's twin, exclaims walking up with Justin Harper. "Mr. Lettler held us back to congratulate us for being the only ones to get 100% on the history test." Justin has short wavy dark brown hair, dark green eyes and blue rimmed glasses. "Ya and we got to raid his candy stash" Nick adds opening his pockets for us to see. Nick has short scruffy blonde hair and brown eyes. "Come on Mel" Hadies Cooper shouts over his shoulder to Melody Square "I'm coming Hadies" Mel calls back panting. Hadies sprints through the bush and waits for Mel. Mel has thin brown shoulder length hair with light green eyes and pink rimmed glasses. "Sorry were late, someone couldn't open their locker" Hadies teases looking at Mel. Mel's cheeks go a bright shade of pinky-red and she looks down at her feet. "Whaaaaaaaat" Mel replies still looking at the ground. Hadies has short brown hair with light blue eyes. Hadies also has dimples and freckles. Hadies is my brother and is in grade five, the rest of us are in grade eight. Hadies has no friends in his grade because he is named after the Greek God of the Underworld. We all like him though so we hang out with him. "Hey guys" Hadies exclaims smiling broadly. "Hi..." Mel greets, leaning up against a tree panting very hard. "Tired are you?" Nick teases smiling up at Mel. "N..no , I .... don't know .. what your talking ... about" Mel sarcastically replies still catching her breath and looking down at Nick. "Hey when'll your ma be here Katie?" Justin asks Katie with a purple sucker clanging against his teeth as he talks. "Um..." Katie ponders looking at her watch "Now mmmm five mmrer, about fifteen minutes or so" Katie finishes after a second. "Great". The rest of the group fell into a conversation about one of the teachers and I fade out into my own little world. In my mind I'm sitting on the same stump, but I'm alone. I glance around and see a summer sun high in the clear blue sky. The leaves on the trees are a bright vibrant shade of green moving ever so slightly as a gentle summer breeze brushes past them. I hear the leaves slightly brushing each other, and the water of a nearby pond gently splashing. I look down to see flower blossoms scattered across the ground, in a various selection of colors. Birds are gliding effortlessly through the skies, butterflies are fluttering by and bees are buzzing around from flower to flower. A stronger wind weaves through the blades of grass and brings a sweet smell up with it. I bend down and pick a deep red flower, I lift it to my nose and take a deep breath while my hair follows the wind behind me. My nose fills with the sweet smell of summer. "Sam, Sam.....Samantha" I am brought back to the real world and am surrounded by my friends again. "What do you think" Justin stairs at me raising his left eyebrow. "Um..AA, on what?" I ask smiling sheepishly. My friends all bust out laughing "There you go again day dreaming" Hadies teases between laughter. "Hadies asked if we could all sleep over at the fort for a few nights tomorrow." Justin finally answers my question. "Oh, well I have nothing planned so I'm in." I replied slightly ashamed. "How about tomorrow after school we meet at one at the beach next to the Speedy Peach?" I ask looking at everyone. "Sure" was everyone's reply. We fall back into a conversation until we hear the sound of tires on the gravel road and then two honks of a horn. "That's our mom" Katie shout getting up. I stand up and grab my purple shoulder bag and open the back door of the tan colored van. I hop in the back right Nick sat next to the other window with Mel in between us. In front of me is Hadies and in front of Nick is Justin. Katie sits in the front next to her mom. "Hello Mrs. Macouy, how was your day?" I greet Nick and Katie's mom with a polite smile. "My day was pretty good how was yours?" Mrs. Mcouy answers. "Not very exciting, thanks" I reply doing up my seat belt. "Okay everyone ready?" Mrs. Mcouy asks starting the car. "Yes" we all reply. We spent the drive talking about how tomorrow was the last day of school and when we got to the fort how we had to prepare it for summer. It wasn't long till we hit Jasmine Street. We all live on Jasmine Street, Justin's house is the second, the Cooper house is the fourth, Mcouys the fifth and Mel's house is the eighth. The old van comes to a stop at its final destination we all get out yell our thanks and goodbyes before running off to our homes. We get home and put our shoes away and hang our bags before entering the house and going to the kitchen. We enter the kitchen and are greeted by a large ball of gray and white fur with two giant light blue eyes with a long pink tongue. "Hi Whiskey" I exclaim, dropping to my knees and rubbing the husky all over. Hadies came to join me with a bone for Whiskey. I look up to see Uncle Liam walk in with some pop "How was school guys?" Uncle Liam asks taking a sip of his pop and handing us each a can. "Good how about yours?" I ask standing up and opening my can. "Good thanks" Uncle Liam replies taking a seat at the island. Liam Ble or Uncle Liam as we call him is our mom's older brother, he is bald with pale brown eyes thin lips and a dented and a crooked nose from being broken so many times. He also has tattoos covering the back of his neck and his arms. Hadies stands up "Where are mom and dad?" Hadies asks cracking open his can of pop "Haven't got home yet" Uncle Liam informs us. "How many days of freedom do we have left before Brad and Bradly get back?" I ask also opening my pop that bubbles over and spills onto the floor. Whiskey quickly cleans that mess up. "Their supposed to be here tomorrow but you never know, plans might have changed" Uncle Liam says. Brad and Bradly are my two older identical twins, they both have blue eyes and brown hair that spikes at the front. They are both sixteen and in their second year of high school. "Hey guys" Mom says walking in with her brief case followed by dad. "Hey, can me and Sam have a sleepover with our friends at the fort for a few days?" Hadies bursts out excitedly hugging them. "That should be fine" Mom answers glancing at dad who nods. Mom, or Leslie Cooper, has long blonde hair that goes down to her waist and sky blue eyes. Mark Cooper, or dad, has short brown hair that perks up at the top, with light blue eyes. "Hadies I'll get the fort files and invite everyone over, you get snacks" I exclaim running upstairs with my phone out. About ten minutes later we are all gathered in my room around a plate of cheese, crackers and pickles.
