The room was silent, walking back and forth was the leader of the assignment process, Commander Recon. Not a breath was heard, Each step echoed quietly then abruptly the sound of two pair of feet came pounding down the hall breaking the silence, making a few soldiers give a slight glance towards the door. Commander Recon folded his arms behind his back, with a gruff cough he began to speak with the absent sound of someone in the distance "Alright soliders, today you all will be assigned to a Freelance- "sorry I'm late I acci-" You walked right in and the door slammed you in the face as it was closing. How embarassing

*scratch of record* yup, that's you... You're probably wondering how this happened.

You are ________ (state name or code name) A member of the Freelancer trainee program which is for trainee's to shadow real Freelancer's in the field. You have been training for a long time for this, this was your last year. Not the top of the class nor last place so you had a decent standing... besides your occasional lateness but who isn't late every now and then? well, to be honest Nova, a fellow solider who has always been #1 top of the class, The professor calls her "Little Carolina" sometimes; it grinds your gears...

This morning started like most mornings, get up, get your butt in gear and get your gear. Getting ready to go, you suited up and sat down to put on your boots tightening the straps around your ankles. Buuuut  your pillow was nice and warm, for a brief moment you put your head down again to rethink what you had to do today and accidentally... you fell asleep.

An alarmed blarred next to your head abruptly a few moments later, jolting you from your slumber quickly check the time.. YOU WHERE GONNA BE LATE!  Securing your boots around your legs you ran as fast as your feet would carry you to the training room.

"sorry I'm late I acci-" You walked right in and the door slammed you in the face.

How embarrassing.  And now we are back to where we were

The freelancers looked at you with a cold expression as the door swayed back the other way. On top of all your team mates suddenly looked at you, trying not to snicker. The leader turned his heads back to the Trainees and they all straightened to attention going quiet instantly, his gaze then returning to you.  The room was holding his breath, you look around briefly. Off to the left was a whole bunch of the Freelancers in multicoloured suites and in the middle, ordered in a line was your friends/teammates.

He walked over to you slowly "Late on the first day huh?" he remarked rather calmly but you felt a chill down your spine.

His words held a chilling demeanour as he approached, Straightening up. "Im sorry sir.. I acc-" "Don't speak unless spoken to" He responded in a cold matter freezing the blood in your veins.

He stopped in front of you and held your gaze, or at least from what you could see in his mask, "I should send you home right here, I know my soldiers wouldn't mind one less rat to take care of" his words where powerful and heart wrenching.

No... this can't be it... You'd worked for this your entire life
