Veezare was up and running now. Fully functional. He was exited and energetic.

"I just know something big is going to happen today," he said to Star. "I just know it!"

"Something big? Something big like your's and Lumak's little dispute?"

"No, no, no," he said smiling. "Something much bigger than that."

"What could possibly be bigger than that? The emperor growing wings and flying to Stros M'Kai?" Star laughed.

The islands were closer now. You could fully see them, although that's not where we were headed.

I was lying in my bed, drawing a picture of Mauuel Risrey, according to the details the team had given me. He had a long, hooked nose that looked as if he were about to swallow it. He had pale blue eyes and was covered in wrinkles. You could tell he was evil just by looking at his hideous, sagging features.

I closed my journal and walked across the room to my desk, placing the journal inside a drawer.

I walked over to the window, staring out. The islands were nearby. They were beautiful, tropical jungles. The shallow water surrounding them was a bright, pure shade of blue that rivaled the sky. The sandy beaches were a pale beige that looked like Brelas' skin.

What was that? I looked into the deep blue ocean below us. Something was moving.

Maybe I'm just hallucinating.

There it is again!

I couldn't tell what it was, but it was big. Really big. Like a serpent.

I hope it doesn't see us. I should tell Star.

-------

"Star!" I said, rushing into her cabin.

"What? What is it?" she asked, startled by me barging in.

"There's something in the sea," I said.

She laughed. "That's called water, S'Drassa."

"No, I mean there is a living thing, swimming below us." I responded anxiously.

"What?" she said, confused. "What do you mean 'living thing'?"

"I mean like a creature!" I said loudly.

"Oh, you mean a sea monster?" she laughed. "Don't believe what Drelas says."

"Don't believe what?" Drelas said, poking his head in. "I heard my name."

"Your little story about a sea monster has gotten our newbie all riled up," she explained.

"I'm not 'riled up'!" I said, angry that she didn't believe me. "Look out the window, down towards the ocean, below the ship!"

"By Azura!" Drelas said, now standing at the window, seeing the creature.

"What?" Star said, speeding over to the window.

Then she saw it for herself.

"Prepare the crew." she said, staring down at the creature. "It's going to be a rough ride."

She started away from the window. Then she went beside her bed, pulling out a huge chest.

Did I miss the meeting where they talked about these gigantic chests?

Drelas ran out the room, shouting at everyone he saw.

"Sea monster!" he yelled. "Above deck, now! Get your weapons!"

I walked out of Star's room, down the hall, and into mine. I wanted to see if I had one of those chests.

I plopped down into the floor, staring underneath my bed. Sure enough, there was a chest. Was it empty, or was it filled with things I needed?
