He held her in his arms as she slept peacefully
He smiled down at her, but of course she wouldn't see
The gladness in his eyes, for she was safe now
They made a promise and he was a man of vow
She would see no pain until the Universe would end
"Are you sure?" he asked; "Yes," she said
And he nodded took her hand
Placed upon it a wedding band
He didn't tell her he was a traveller:
Her peace he could not defend.
