Chapter 9

Dessie’s POV

I woke up early today (early as in few minutes after 7) kasi medyo maaga rin nakatulog. I found my inner peace when I came into terms with reality.

I finally accepted the fact that I’m engaged, though not in the way I dreamt for so long, and not also with the guy I expected to be engaged with.

I am not saying that I prefer my ex over Dwayne. It’s just that I prefer dolled-up girls for him. Never ko namang naisip na I would end up with him kasi we were good just as friends.

Pero I wanna give this relationship a try.

It may not have started the way one would want it to be, but I am not a hypocrite. I find it exciting, and ‘magical’ as my hopeless romantic side would say. Maybe it was fate. Or this just might be God’s plan for me.

I rummaged the contents of my phone and was reminded of why I went to bed smiling.

Good night, Dessidy.

I replied back of course. Eto pa, ang babaw talaga ng kaligayan ko. Text lang, masaya na ako.

I realized I can’t go back to sleep, so I decided to for a 15-min brisk walk. I quickly changed into my shorts and a large short, blindly looked for a pair of socks, and went to the bathroom para maghilamos at magmumog.

I stepped out of the bathroom just to see my mom about to go down for breakfast.

“Morning, Mommy!” I beamed.

“Ganda ng gising at ang saya ng baby namin a!” she chuckled.

“Naalimpungatan lang at di na makatulog ulit. ‘Lika, ‘My, lakad-lakad tayo tulad ng dati.” Simula ng umalis mga kuya ko, na dating mga kasama ko magjogging dati, si Mommy na nagging partner ko mag-exercise, yun nga lang brisk walking lang ang gusto niya.

“WOW! After a long time, ngayon ka lang ulit nag-aya anak, a? Give me a few minutes to change into something comfortable.” She pointed at her duster and dashed back to their bedroom.

Bumaba na ako and saw Daddy getting ready to leave for work. It takes 30 minutes to an hour for him to get to work by car.
