I stepped out of the cab that stopped right in front of the building I needed to be. Jitters, there where Caitlin told me to meet up so we could chat and I could meet some of her friends. It felt kinda good not to be surrounded by all strangers in this new city, even thought I haven't spoken to Caitlin for about 2 years. She doesn't even know about my dad... And I won't tell her, since I came here for a fresh start and to forget about all that happened last year... That horrible year that I just can't get out of my head. It will probably forever hound me since that "thing" that killed my dad is still on the lose. Which is logical because not one cop believed what they were hearing and just considered it was because I was in shock. But I know what I saw.
A biker that almost drove right into me brought me back to reality. I looked around to get a quick glimpse of Central City. It was A LOT bigger then where I came from. I looked on the sign of the building in front of me. "Jitters" it said in red caps lock letters, and I walked inside. I looked around to see if Caitlin was already here. But there was no sign of her so I walked over to an empty table and took a seat while looking around me. Jitters looked beautiful and stylish. I really liked it! It even has that welcome feeling. "NAOMI!!" I heard a familiar voice screaming my name from behind my back. I turn around to see Caitlin stepping in my direction together with a man. He was small, had a light tinted skin and long curly black hair till on his shoulders. He looked very friendly. "Hi Caitlin! It's been so long!" I replied while I jumped of the chair I was sitting on to give Caitlin a hug. "How's everything?" I asked while Caitlin let go and looked at me with a bright smile. "Great! Great! Naomi I want you to meet a really good friend of mine, Cisco. He works at S.T.A.R. Labs just like me." Caitlin points to the guy with the black hair, who takes one of his hands out of his pocket followed by him pointing it in my direction. I reply by shaking his hand. "Hi nice to meet you Naomi." He says. "Nice meeting you indeed." I answer with a smile while Caitlin and Cisco take a seat at the table I was sitting. "So.. what brings you to Central City?" Caitlin starts with a very curious face. "Uhm.." I wasn't gonna tell her that I basically just moved here because my dad died and wanted answers so I could move on. That would make it a whole lot harder for me to start fresh. I had to lie, even thought I wasn't good in it. I know Caitlin likes my dad, so it wasn't even really a option telling her in the first place. Even thought I did think she deserved to know the truth. "A fresh start I guess." Caitlin gave a quick smile. "So you just thought.. oh Central City sounds nice?" In my head I knew what she meant. It was kinda weird for someone like me to just move all the way up here by herself for a fresh start. There were so much more nicer places to go to, but I choose Central City. Of course I knew why. And Caitlin could possibly even be another reason why someday since she knows so much about these metahumans.  But I couldn't tell her. That would make things a whole lot more complicated. In the end she's just a scientist and not someone who wants the person who killed her father death. "I.. well their was a job open at the police station here, and I needed a place and a job so this seemed good." It looked like they believed me. "And because you lived here of course." I joked, and Caitlin and Cisco laughed. "How about your dad? He just agreed with you moving so far away from him leaving him home all alone?" Shit. There it was. I knew Caitlin would bring my dad up in some way. I felt my legs starting to shake and I started to feel very warm. What was I gonna say? My hands started becoming sweaty and I hid them under the table before Caitlin or Cisco would notice. "He didn't mind." I said fast and softly. I could hear my voice shutter. I gave a quick shy smile in the hope they wouldn't notice I was lying. "Caitlin! Cisco!" Pfoeeh.. I was saved. I turned around. There was a woman standing next to Caitlin who appeared to be a friend of Caitlin and Cisco. She had long dark hair and a darker skin. I was actually pretty jealous of the way she looked because she looked beautiful. She turned her head in my direction and looked at me with a smile. "And who is this?" Caitlin smiled and looked at me. "This is Naomi, we've been friends for a long time and she just moved to Central City." The woman looked back at me after Caitlin finished her introduction about me. "Nice to meet you Naomi, I'm Iris." She smiled. "Nice meeting you Iris." I replied and gave her a little smile. "So what are you doing here at Jitters? Don't you have work to do at CCPN (Central City Picture News)?" Cisco asked looking at Iris. "It's lunch time so I came here to grab a cup of coffee." She looked at our table which was still empty. "It seems like you guys haven't ordered anything yet as well, coffee?" We all nodded our heads as a yes. "Alright I be right back." And with that said Iris walks away. After Iris came back with the coffee we kept on talking for at least half an hour. It was so good talking to some of Caitlin's friends. And they were all so nice as well. Some more time passed by and Iris had to go back to her work since her lunch break was almost over. "I hope to talk to you again soon Naomi!" She said while she stood up and left Jitters to head back to CCPN.
"I think it's time for you to dump your stuff at your place." Caitlin smiled at me.  "Well to be honest, I still haven't found a place yet, so I'm just staying in a hotel." I replied. Caitlin didn't hesitate for a second before she replied. "A hotel? That ain't gonna happen!" Before I could react Caitlin stood up and grabbed two of my bags. "You can stay at my place until you find a proper place to stay." She smiled. I didn't know what to say. I just gave her a big bright smile while I grabbed two more of my bags. Cisco stood up as well and walked over to me. "Let me help, I'll take this one." He said while he grabbed the bag I had in my right hand. " Thank you both. I don't know what to say." I said thankful. They both smiled. "Don't worry about it! You really thought I would let you stay in a hotel when I have enough space at my place?" Caitlin replied, and we walked out of Jitters on our way to Caitlin's apartment.
