The seventeen year old brunette rolled over on her bed, shutting her alarm off. She felt oddly cold, shivering as she called out for her best friend. 'Where the hell is he...?' She wondered, sitting up. "James...?" The brunette whined, moving to the bathroom. "Morning sleepyhead." The darker brunette grinned a toothpaste covered smile. "It's five in the morning. Why did you set the alarm so early?" "Sam, I've told you a million times. If we set it for the time your supposed to wake up, you won't wake up. If we set it up earlier then you'll have a better chance of waking up on time." The girl moaned, wrapping her arms around his torso and snuggling into his chest. "But it's so...early." She complained. James kissed the top of Sam's head, leaving a nice sized toothpaste mark. "Now you'll have no choice but to shower. Go get ready." Sam turned on her heel, sticking her tongue out. "You jackass."

----------------------------------------------

"Why are we even meeting the others so early? It's not like they want to be out at this ungodly hour with all the coffee drinking business men and women." The brunette tugged at her sweater and jeans. "Because we just are, alright? Jesus, why do you ask so many questions?" James rolled his eyes at his best friend's curiosity. "Yeah, sure. I ask too many questions." Sam messed with the bracelet on her wrist. "The first thing you ask in the morning is a question. 'When's breakfast?' 'What's for breakfast?' 'How much longer are you gonna be?'" "Whatever..." She slumped in the car's passenger seat, crossing her arms.

The pair reached their high school, slowly reaching classroom 2-2. When James opened up the door, Sam was greeted by an enthusiastic glomp. "Good morning Sam-Chan!" Nikki cheered loudly. "Would you lower your volume? I swear, your going to wake up anyone within a ten mile radius." Emma emerged from behind the blonde haired girl, pushing her glasses up. "I see someone's still a little tired! I should've picked you two up! We could've gone and gotten coffee together!" Nikki was weaving between desks, almost literally bouncing off the walls. "Where's Hannah? I just want to get this over with..." Emma pulled Nikki down by the hem of her shirt. The door burst open at the mention of their friends name. "Sorry...I'm...late...bike...has...flat tire..." Hannah gulped in copious amounts of air. "Finally! Your here!" Emma threw her hands up as if she was praising god. "Let's get this over with..." Sam leaned against James, closing her eyes. "Alright, alright! So, I called you all here today to do a special charm my friend Rinna taught me! We even did it together!" Nikki went to her backpack, pulling out a white paper doll. "It's called Shiawase no Sachiko-san or Sachiko In The Ever After. Basically if we all grab on really tight and chant this phrase once for each person here and once for Sachiko-San, we'll be besties for life!" She extended the doll to us. "Wanna try?"

After much deliberation, the group agreed to try this friendship charm. "So, you all just need to chant 'Sachiko, we beg of you'. You can't stop halfway through though. It's okay to mess up, but don't stop! Ready?" The five dug their nails tightly into the doll. "And...go!"

"Sachiko-san onegaishimasu."

"Sachiko-san onegaishimasu!"

"Sachiko-san onegaishimasu...?"

"Sachiko-san onegaishimasu."

"...Sachiko-san onegaishimasu! Now pull!"

The friends yanked as hard as they could, until they all received a tiny piece of the charm.

"This is so, so, totally awesome! Thanks Nikki-Chan!" Hannah hugged the dirty blonde as she slung her bag on her back. "No problem! It was fun! I'm glad that we get to be friends for-eh?!" The ground started shaking violently beneath the group of teens. "Oh, you've got to be joking! I have work today!" Emma rolled her eyes, sliding under a nearby desk. "It's a big one!" James shouted, pulling a somewhat awake Sam with him under another desk. "I don't think this is any normal earthquake you guys!" Hannah yelled. "We're all going to die!" Sam wailed, the floor suddenly bursting loose. "No! I don't wanna die, I'm not ready!" She clung to a rigid board, her hazel eyes flooded with tears. "Sam, grab my hand, now!" James stuck it out, trying to avoid the broken floor. "I-I can't! I'm too scared!" Her hands were slipping dangerously fast. "NOW!" James' voice hung in the air as the world around the five went dark.
