CHAPTER 3 - CARNIVAL
FRIDAY 8:45 AM
Miss Major's class was the worst one of them all.
She would lecture for the entire class period about stuff we already had learned. Some students wouldn't even bother showing up. Unfortunately, I wasn't brave enough to skip. I just plugged in my earphones and played music while reading a book.
pink skies by LANY was playing when I got a message from West.
Weston Anderson: Can't wait for our double date ;)
I ignored him as usual. He was going out with Brittney, so why was he sending me these messages? If he didn't want to go out with Brittney in the first place, why did he agree to?
I went back to reading.
My phone went off again. I groaned, swiping it open. I swear to god if he sends me anymore messages, I am going to throw this phone across the room. Thankfully, it was Brandon instead of him.
FROM: Brandon: What time are we hanging out again?
TO: Brandon: Meet me at Brittney's house at 5,
Finally, the bell rang and as I was getting up from my seat, I once again received another message. From West.
Weston Anderson: To Kill A Mockingbird, huh?
How did he know what book I was reading? Furrowing my eyebrows together, I looked around the classroom. No where was West to be found. Was he in my class and I just didn't pay enough attention?

FRIDAY - 12:25 PM
I sat outside on the backstair case, going through photos and editing them as needed. I came across the one of West and smiled. He looked so calm and natural.
I took a sip from my coffee and clicked out of his picture and on to the next. It was one of the first photos I've ever taken. A photograph of my family, together, not fighting and being upset with each other. I miss it.
That's what I loved about photography. It was a way to tell a story without having to say a single word, the emotions and vibes from the photograph itself was enough to speak a thousands words.
Looking up, sighing, my eye caught Weston jogging on the track. He wasn't jogging intensely, but enough to break a sweat. Why was he running during lunch? He would smell for the rest of the day. Maybe he had gym next period.
The bell rang and I shoved my computer into my bag, heading back into the school.
I briefly stopped at my locker, grabbing my photo textbook for next period. When I turned around, someone knocked into my and I dropped my textbook and phone.
"Sorry, I didn't see you there - "I looked up and my eyes met Weston's. "Oh, hey." He grinned.
I starred awkwardly at him until my mind screamed at me to say something, "hey."
Our eyes locked. My breath hitched and I swear time stopped. All I could see was his beautiful chocolate brown eyes and his perfectly white smile. Weirdly, enough, I didn't want to stop looking at him.
West lunged forward after Brittney hugged her arms around his neck. I turned away and glanced down at the ground. I pushed a piece of hair that fell in my face back behind my ear. I shifted my weight to my other leg and looked up at Brittney.
"Hey Darby! See you met West. Isn't he so cool?" She giggled, giving him a tighter hug.
"Sure,"
