"But to which of the angels has He ever said:

'Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool?'

Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?"   Hebrews 1:13-14

I suppose nothing brings home to us the reality of God more powerfully then to suddenly see and experience the invisible spiritual realm.  There are numerous accounts throughout the Bible of people meeting and speaking with angels.  God's word tells us that God never changes, that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  Angels are very busy today just the same as they were during the times of the scriptures.  And God sends His angels to speak to people today just the same as He did during scriptural times.  We have to accept all of scripture, not just certain parts of it.

There was a brief season in my life when I had the privilege of seeing and talking with God's angels in a physical manifestation that I could see and touch.  Angels are wonderful creatures.  They have a power and beauty far beyond any of God's creatures in the physical realm here on earth.  Because God's angels have no sin, they are able to reflect God's glory with great power.  I first met an angel during the intense eight weeks battle with the demons in Elaine prior to her final deliverance.  I wrote about this battle in my first book titled He Came To Set The Captives Free.

In order to teach me about the spiritual realm, the Lord allowed several demons to manifest in the physical to try to kill me.  They were horrifying monsters!  I was completely alone in the battle, and quite frankly, I lived in a state of complete terror.  One night, shortly after a demon manifested into the physical and tried to kill me, I was sitting on the couch in my living room shaking and crying my eyes out.  I was so horrified and so terrified!  I was crying out to the Lord for help.  I was completely alone and had no one to turn to for counsel or help.  As I sat there, suddenly I realized that the room had filled with a beautiful bluish light.  I looked up in astonishment to see a beautiful being dressed all in white.  Immediately he raised his right hand and greeted me in a very formal manner.  Then he said, "I have a message for you from God most high."

I jumped to my feet and cried out, "STOP!  Who are you?"

"I am Michael," was his answer.

"Yes, well, a demon can say that.  How do I know you aren't a demon masquerading as an angel of light?  Who is your Master, whom do you serve?"

I didn't say so, but I was so impressed with the purity I saw in his deep blue eyes.  I felt such a sense of cleanness and holiness in his presence, but I was terribly afraid of being deceived by a demon.

He smiled and nodded.  "Very good," he said, "I serve Jesus Christ of Nazareth who is God most high.  He is my Lord and Master.  I am one of His angels."

I didn't think a demon could dare to claim this.  I stared at him in astonishment for a moment, then hesitantly I said, "Um, you said your name was Michael?  Are you ...THE Michael?"

Again he smiled and said, "Yes, I am the archangel Michael written about in God's Word."

"But wait a minute... What are you doing here?  I mean, I'm not important enough for you to come to me...Shouldn't you be over on the other side of the world guarding Israel or something?"

"I dwell outside of time and space as you know it," he replied.  "It is my privilege to go where God sends me.  He has sent me to you with a message."

Michael was an awesome being.  He stood at least eight feet tall.  Light radiated from within him.  He had bronzed skin as if deeply tanned.  His eyes were a deep blue, and also radiated with light.  His hair was golden and he was dressed in white with a large sword hanging on a golden belt at his waist.  He wore golden sandals on his feet.  He was very muscular and radiated incredible power.

"O.K. what is the message?"

"You MUST conqueror fear or Satan will kill you!"  As he spoke he pulled his sword from its sheath and pointed it at me.  Suddenly his countenance became fierce.  I jumped back in fear, not knowing what he intended to do.  His voice became very stern as he said, "You demon of fear, release her and get off of her right now before I stick you with my sword!"

Suddenly, I felt as if a great weight was lifted off of my back.  I stared at him in wonder as understanding dawned in my mind.

"Oh," I exclaimed, "has this terror I've been struggling with actually been from a demon?"

"Yes," he said, "a demon of fear has been attached to you for some time now.  You must rebuke fear and get rid of it.  When demons attack you and try to kill you, you can never give in to fear.  You will be defeated immediately if you do."

He continued, "Satan's number one weapon is fear.  Demons of fear can inject the emotion of fear into you from outside of you.  God the Father says that you must make it a habit to always ask Him to renew His full armor on you every day.  This will protect you from a lot of demonic attack."

"Do you mean the armor described in Ephesians chapter 6?" I asked.

"Yes, that's it."

"Oh, I guess I always thought that was just symbolic."

"It is," Michael replied, "But it is literal and real as well.  It goes onto your spirit body."

I realized that in His great mercy, the Lord had just given me two keys to gaining victory in the spiritual battle raging in my life.

"Thank you so much for coming to tell me," I said.

Michael nodded briefly and was gone in an instant.  That first contact was brief, but it was a huge encouragement to me.  How can we lose with such glorious and powerful beings sent by God to help us?
