Greetings Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Sonia Vaquera. I am Rebecca's secretary. I recently retired from the United States Air Force having served over 20 years faithfully. Rebecca asked me to write on her Facebook today about my singleness in regards to dating. As a single woman, it is important we do not take dating lightly. In most people's lifetimes, we are faced with three very important decisions we will have to make:
1. Choosing Jesus as Lord and Savior.
2. Choosing a job/career.
3. Who will I spend the rest of my life with? When you have chosen Jesus as Lord and Savior, we should ask Him for guidance on the latter two choices. One day, back in November of last year, Rebecca and I were having a deep conversation regarding me dating.
I had told her that I had been in a relationship before that only ended in much heartache. You see, I had reasoned in my thoughts that when this unsaved man and I married, he would eventually become a Christian. We never married and I thank God for that. I know now that my thinking was just foolishness and it did not line up with God's word.
How can I, as a Christian woman, convince him to become a Christian when I was deliberately disobeying God's Word. Had we married two things would be for certain: much pain would be in my heart and I would not be able to serve God acceptably. I would have been miserable.
I am so thankful for Rebecca and Daniel, true servants of the Lord, who do not compromise the Word of God for anyone. She has provided me with list of pre-date questions and I would like to share a few of the questions with you. It is as follows:
1. What do you have to offer me?
2. Why do you want to go out with me?
3. What is your relationship with God like?
4. What do you want your future to be in God's kingdom?
5. How often are you in and out of a relationship?
6. What do you think is the real purpose for dating?
7. What has God called you to do?
8. What kind of physical relationship do you think is appropriate for dating?
9. How often do you read your bible?
10. What has God taught you from the bible?
11. What is the most important thing in your life right now?
12. Exactly when did you accept Christ? How did it happen? Tell me the experience?
13. Do you like to talk about spiritual things?
14. Do you live a clean, pure life?
15. Do you attend church consistently? The list goes on and on...I hope to afford you a follow up on this application in my life in the future.
So I stand on Romans 8:25, which says, "But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently." Savior, choose my husband in life for me. Not my will, but Your will be done.
