Chapter Eight // Cloud Nine

"So. What is it?" I asked, eagerly.

I watched as his face started turning into a dark shade of red. "W-well..." he trailed off, looking away from me.

He grabbed my wrist and dragged me down the cement stairs, and I swear I heard the twins squeal from behind us.

We walked side by side down the path which led to the main road.

"Where are we going?" I asked, looking over at Kenma who seemed to be avoiding eye contact.

"The Cafe." Was all he said, still holding onto my wrist tightly.

I looked around, seeing as we were almost there. He stopped mid-track, resulting in me walking into his back. I blushed in embarrassment. "Heh, Sorry." I mumbled, looking down.

I felt him place his finger under my chin, lifting my head up. My eyes widened as I observed his reddened face.

"(Y/n). I... I like you." He said, his eyes not meeting mine. He pulled away from me, staring at the ground which he seemed to think was really interesting at the moment.

"Kenma, I like you too."

He looked up at me, smiling. "Really?" He asked. "Mhm!" I smiled gently as he returned the gesture.

Once we got back to walking, we walked slower. The cafe was up ahead, as I smiled.

Once we got in, we sat at the same table we always sat at. The one all the way at the back. I sat next to the window as Kenma sat across from me.

The girl known as Dolly came to serve us. She smiled down at us, her notepad between her hands. "What would you like today? Hot chocolates?" Kenma and I both nodded, smiling at each other.

Dolly leaned down and whispered something to Kenma. His face went red, as he looked away, muttering "I did.."

She looked from you back to Kenma and squealed. "Kyaa~ so cute~" I felt my face heat as Kenma looked away. "Just go get our hot chocolates already." He said in a monotone, shooing the fangirl off.

Kenma was blushing as he looked out the window, and I couldn't help but stare. He's really cute like that, but I'd never say it out loud.

"—I know. Shoyo is such an idiot." I said, as Kenma giggled. "I think your brother is good. He always seems to want to try new things." Kenma adds, taking a small sip of his hot beverage. "He might be. But he's still an id—" Our conversation was interrupted by a loud buzzing sound. I looked down and saw my phone buzzing, almost off the table.

I picked it up quickly, glad it didn't fall and checked the caller.

"Kageyama-Senpai?" I questioned myself. I clicked the green button, pressing the phone to my ear.

"Hello?"

"(Y/n). Where are you? You're not home." He said, in a monotone.

"You're at my house?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes. I'm looking for you. We need to practice. Meet me in the Karasuno Volleyball gym now."

"Kageyama—!" He hung up before I could say anything. I growled at my phone, placing it in my pocket.
