Friday couldn't have come faster, and I couldn't be patient any longer. Waiting for this date was exhausting and I kept waking up every morning knowing it was one day closer to this day.

That morning, I woke up excited and prepared for what that day had in store for me. I showered and put on some pajamas and walked into Liza's room to wake her up. "Liza," I whispered. "Liza! Wake up!" I shook her awake and I swear the devil himself stared at me through the scowl on her face. In that moment I felt like I was going to be murdered by my beloved sister. "You better have the best explanation as to why you're waking me up at this unholy hour." I grimaced at her tone of voice and backed away. "I just wanted to say that it's noon and you're still asleep. Also, it's Friday, and my date with David is today." She shot out of bed, and her room, and dashed into my room. "Casual or fancy?" I took a second to ponder her question and then remembered David's plans for the night. "Very casual."

We picked out some jeans, a white shirt, and my Adidas and left them on my bed. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed some bread and peanut butter. "What are you doing?" Liza asked. I plugged in the toaster and popped in some bread. "Making breakfast. Want something?" She sat on the counter and shook her head in thought. "Surprise me." I took that as a chance to cook something. I grabbed another piece of bread and put it in the toaster, grabbed a pan and started to cook an egg on the stove.

When the toast was ready, I put it on a plate and put the egg with a slice of cheese on top. "What is this?"
"That, my dear sister, is toast with egg and cheese on top. I learned how to make it when I would stay over at Jane Terry's house when we were younger." Liza and I ate in silence until a knock on the door startled us. Liza got up and opened the door. "Audrie, it's your gentleman caller." I stood up and brushed crumbs off my shirt. David walked in smirking at Liza who glared at him. "I'll be in my room, sis, don't leave without telling me." I nodded and she stalked off to her room. I walked over to David who had the biggest grin on his face. "Get dressed." I looked at him in bewilderment. "Pardon?"
"Get dressed," he repeated.
"For what?"
"Our date."
"That's not until tonight," I protested. "I look like absolute homelessness right now!"
He laughed and pulled me in for a hug. "Homeless or not, you're still beautiful and I would still take you out on a date. So go get ready, I'll be here." I looked up at him and kissed his cheek before running to my room and getting dressed.

"Liza, I'm leaving earlier than expected." Liza looked up from her laptop where she was editing her video and got up. "Be careful. Be safe. Use protection. Don't do anything you'll regret. If you get arrested, I won't bail you out." I chuckled and hugged her. "I'll be fine. You need to finish editing because it is way past Wednesday." She scoffed and swatted my arm. "This is for my second channel, fool." I stuck my tongue out at her to which she maturely mirrored.

David and I got to the garage where his car was parked perfectly next to mine. "So where to first, lover boy?" He rolled his eyes playfully at my nickname for him. "Well, dearest, if you must know, we are going to the Los Angeles Public Library." I smiled like a child at Disneyworld and turned in my seat to face him. "Why?" He grabbed my hand and kissed it gently. "Because, I've seen you when you read a book. You look like you've left this world behind and entered one completely imagined from words and your imagination. You're here but you're not here and you sit in one spot living somewhere else and fighting battles that only you can see and feel, and if I'm being completely honest, it is one of the most beautiful things I've ever encountered. You're passionate about many things, Audrie Koshy, but you're the most passionate about worlds that exist in that brilliant brain of yours." I blushed and looked at my lap.
