I walk around town and groan, "Where is a little school girl like me going to find a job?" I whine to myself before hearing a bit of commotion nearby.
I walk a bit closer then hide behind a tree and see a familiar girl from my class, the one I scared, Maaka, I learned her name during the day. She was hugging an older woman, wait, not hugging, she was biting the woman's neck right in the middle of the park! Maaka is a vampire! Wait, she was eating human food at lunch and she seemed to like the sunshine, is she an un-vampire like me? Could it even be possible? I need to talk to her, tomorrow at lunch, I can't right now. I keep watching as a younger, silver haired girl appears and a green glow comes from her hand, she was erasing the woman's memory.
"Thanks, Anju, I don't know what I'd do without you," Maaka says with a smile.
"I'm just looking out for my big sister," Anju says.
I couldn't resist, I had to talk to her, I take a deep breath then run after them.
"Maaka, wait, I need to talk to you!" I call out and catch up but suddenly freeze up, someone paralyzed me, "W-Wait, if you erase my memories of vampires then you'll erase my whole life," I say.
"Your whole life? Wait, you're the new girl in my class!" Maaka exclaims.
"Lilith Akane, but you can just call me Lilith, I'm just like you so please tell your sister to let me go," I say.
"Anju, you can let her go," she says.
I sigh in relief as I'm released then straighten out my skirt.
"Like I was saying, I'm just like you, you're an un-vampire and so am I," I say.
Maaka sends her sister home then we talk for a little while, I completely forgot I was looking for a job until food comes up and my stomach growls, I haven't eaten anything all day. She has an idea then leads me to the restaurant she works at, we talk to the manager and I get the job quickly, hugging Maaka afterwards.
"Thank you so much! This means a lot to me!" I say happily.
We went to the changing room and I got right to work on the same day I was hired, I was surprised to see Usui there too but I didn't mind it much. My blood didn't increase again today except once after I accidentally scared a kid. I made sure to apologize then I got right back to work, I'd be able to afford groceries to make my meals every day!
"Hey, Lilith, earlier today when you ran off from Usui, did your blood increase?" Maaka asked as we were changing back into our normal clothes.
"Yeah but I don't know why, it's not even close to that time, I suppose it could be linked to my blood's affinity but I don't know what that is yet," I say and slip on my shoes, "It's embarrassing to talk about this with someone who's not in my family. Okay, you asked a question, now my turn. How are you able to be such close friends with humans?" I ask.
"Well I've been friends with Maki since forever and Usui knows my secret but he promised to keep it, he helps look after me during the day," Maaka says.
"Wow, you're really lucky, Maaka, I wish I had friends like that," I say softly then sigh to myself and look down.
