The Story of The Un-Vampires

I get home and yawn before calling out, "I'm home!"
"Welcome home, Big Sister," Anji says.
"Lilith, you're home late," my dad says.
"Sorry, Papa, but I know you know why, your bat was hanging outside Julien's," I say before walking over and hugging him then turning to Anji, "I brought something for you," I hold up a box from Julien's, "Ta-da! It's their special cheesecake, I already ate my slice because I was so hungry."
She takes the box and slightly smiles, "You didn't have to do this," she says.
"I wanted to, plus the expiration date is tomorrow so my new boss just gave it to me," I say, "I have homework so I'll be in my room but tell Zen to come see me if he comes home tonight, I need his help figuring out my blood affinity."
I bounce upstairs and get right to work on my homework, Zen never did come home that night but I guess it was a good thing because I passed right out after finishing my homework, I was so tired from staying up last night.

Morning soon came and I woke up, feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. I got dressed quickly then made myself breakfast before making my sister her breakfast that she'll probably eat at dinnertime for me like usual, my life is complicated sometimes but I power through it.
"I'm off to school!" I call out cheerfully then rush out of the house.
I didn't have a lunch again today but I didn't mind as I ran to school, I had a great feeling about today. I get to school in no time at all then see Maaka and Maki, calling out to them.
"You're in a good mood today and your dark circles are gone," Maaka says.
I chuckle softly, "I got a good night's sleep and a good feeling today, you really helped yesterday by helping me find that job!" I say.
"It's no problem at all, just helping out a fellow..." she trails off.
"Forget the word 'classmate'?" I joke, I knew what she was about to say but I gave her an alternative, "I draw blanks on simple words all the time, don't worry about it."
"Geez, Karin, how forgetful are you?" Maki teases.
I laugh, "Aww, don't tease Maaka like that," I say, I knew they were just joking so I was too.
"Good morning, my darling Miss Karin~!" I hear a voice from behind me and rapid footsteps getting closer.
I look behind me and gasp softly, that was the coat of the Sinclair vampire hunters!
"Sorry, I have to go, see you in class!" I say before running off.
Why was there a vampire hunter here?! And what did he want with Karin? Ugh, I just found someone like me and ran like a coward when I saw a stupid coat, leaving my friend behind to deal with a vampire hunter! I slap my cheeks then sigh softly before going to class and taking my seat.
"I'm an idiot, why would there be vampire hunters in this day and age? That's just stupid," I say to myself.
I hear Usui take his seat next to me then he speaks up, "Hey, Akane, would you like to eat lunch with Maaka and me on the roof today?" he asks.
I look over at him, "Um, sure, if you really want me to join you," I say.
