One week later
Maria's POV
Maria put in her earbuds, noting how everyone seemed to care nothing about how she dealt with Madison almost passing away. She walked passed the schools' front doors and went by the office when I heard commotion over my music. I pulled out my earbuds and shoved them in my pocket.
"YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT JEFFERSON IS SUSPENDED?" A woman yelled.
"Yes he is." I heard Washington's voice answer.
A/N : im going to give Maria a best friend that they both go through some tough shit together, you can kill me soon.
Maria then turned away and saw her best friend since 1st grade, Max.
"Hey Max!" She yelled running up to him.
"Hey Maria." He said in a sad tone. She put an arm around his shoulders.
"How are you my friend?" She asked, taking note of his sadness.
"Not good, dad started abusing me and my little brother again." He said, lifting his tee shirt to show a huge bruise on his stomach.
"Holy shit" Maria breathed. "May I?" She asked. He nodded. She ran her hand over the bruise lightly and could feel a broken rib. She yelped and told him.
"I know but father won't take me to the doctors so it'll heal by its self." He said, putting his shirt down. Even though he was a food and video game freak, he worked out an awful lot.
