IDRIS

Early in the morning, I don't hear my alarm ring and I'm actually waking up naturally-thank God. It's a day off and a me-time. Although, I'm kind of expecting Taron to show up at my door, let himself in whilst saying 'okay, I've figured out another plan' but I doubt it's ever happening. Not now, though.

Taron will be auditioning for a part on that musical he was talking about today. My phone clock reads 9:21am and I slide to unlock it, fill up the empty spaces for the passcode and head straight to my messages. I hear from a lot of sources that he sings a lot, and based on my experience, he really does belt out to a song all of a sudden. If anything, he's probably stoked to audition because he's finally going to get to sing once again in a movie.

"Good luck today, T! I know you'll do amazing as always." I press send and tuck my phone under my pillow-which I will probably regret later on. I know I'm the type to forget where I placed my stuff causing me to turn the entire house upside down. But right now I don't care and I'm just looking forward to the day of relaxation.

My phone rings and I yank it out, groggily reading from the screen. It says 'shelter'. And oh...right.

Well, I thought I could get a rest day, but I just remembered the plan I cannot ditch now. I have to go to the animal shelter today and pick up Margie, my new cat (which Taron named for me. He said it was from 'Margaux' and thought of it to tease me and found it hilarious-but I thought otherwise. It is a cute name. Joke's on him.) During the break, I asked Taron to come with me to the shelter to set things up whilst I still got the time because I almost never had, thanks to this PR business I got going on.

"Hey! Thank you. I sure hope it does work out. I'll stop by later, by the way. You're picking Margie up today, in case you forgot. Just a reminder :) I'm sure you're excited. Because I am!"

Hell yes, I am. For the first time, I'll finally be accompanied by something other than unseen ghosts and my shadow in the house. Because, although Taron comes by every once in a while, I still feel like I need a companion in the house that I can cuddle with especially at night. I must admit, I do feel lonely from time to time because my reputation hinders me from being friends with anyone. The same reason why I don't have a roommate. And my manager likes it that way. Now just contemplating about this, I wonder how would she react if she finds out that Taron and I clicked unexpectedly and are legit friends.

I rise up from my bed and head towards the bathroom, walking like a zombie. I feel lazy but I really have to get ready. I know myself, and I know that I'm the type of person that take long showers and let myself be engulfed into existential crisis whilst bathing. I don't trust myself when I say I'll be 'moving quickly this time' because I never do.

I undress and turn the shower on, and the unexpectedly cold water begins to rain down on my head and my bare body so I run to the corner and away from the continuous sprinkles of water, shaking. "Fuck!"

Margie is sprinting around my room and she has already put a bunch of displays out of place. I whistle to get her attention but she doesn't approach. Two hours into day one and she's already a menace.

She lands back on my bed where she rolls around through my duvet. I grab the toy mouse that squeaks I bought for her earlier from the pet store before I claimed her. I pinch the toy and she snaps up in attention, standing still and her head follows the motion of my waving hand. I throw the toy in front of her and I hear the buzz of my doorbell. That must be Taron.

I grab Margie and carry her like a baby but she breaks off. Her attention is still glued to the squeak-toy so I get out of my room, shutting the door behind me before rushing down to the living room.
